EQUITY RESEARCH MORNING BRIEF [email protected] [email protected] 033-4011 0163/252 14th March 2012 The market finally closed Tuesday on a positive note. Though the gains were only observed during the early morning session, the rest part of the day held on to the gains. Meanwhile, the midcap and the small-cap counters closed positive by over a percentage point each. On the sectoral front, all the indices closed in green. Metal, Oil&Gas and Realty indices closed as the major gainers with gains of over three, two and a half and two percentage points respectively. However, the breadth of the mark et was positively placed as two stocks advanced against each declining stock. Expectations for the week: (All Nifty levels refer to Nifty Futures) During this week as long as Nifty does not close below the level of 5303 , market is not expected to go down . This implies that point of 5303 is a trend deciding point for the week. On Friday, Nifty closed at 5371, which is not very close to this t rend deciding point. This signifies th at Nift y can go down to at leas t touch this trend deciding point during the week . This may ha ppen anytime during t he week.. However t he current momentum can take Nifty up to touch the mark of 5404 during the early part of the week. At the point of 5404, if supply is persistent enough , t hen Nifty can go down and touch the trend deciding point of 5303. If The supply continues here also , then there are fair chances that the immediate trend will reverse and Nifty will go down to touch the support zone of 5228 or 5126 mark depending on the supply pressure . On the other hand at 5303 , if demand is persistent and nifty closes above 5404 the first weekly resistance , then it will move further up to touch the 5479 mark or 5580 mark b ased on the demand pressure. In such an event , it will be difficult for Nifty to touch the weekly trend deciding point. Hence the point of 5303 will play a crucial role this week and will go a long way in deciding the forth coming trend. For Monday, the trend deciding point emerges at 5308 which is close to the weekly trend deciding point of 5303. Hence this point should offer a strong buying opportunity with due stop loss. And on Monday though nifty opened at 5434, very limited trades took place at this level . However during the day, it got resisted around 5400-5405 band more than two times before closing at 5389. The point of 5404 was our first point of weekly resistance. For Tuesday, the trend deciding point works out at 5335 and the weekly trend deciding point is at 5303. Hence the band of 5303 and 5335 should offer a strong buying opportunity with a small stop loss of twenty points .And on Tuesday, nifty opened at 5415 , above our first weekly target of 5404 and made a high of 5476 before closing at 5474. The second weekly target was 5479 and nifty made a high near this point only. For Wednesday, the trend deciding point emerges at 5421. This point should offer a buying opportunity with a stop loss of twenty to thirty points. For the day, the level of 5450 and 5420 may act as a major support f or the market. On the higher side the level of 5560 and 5580 ma y act as a major hurdle.
