** The Apostles’ Creed

“I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.”

The First Scripture Lesson

Now Sarai, Abram's wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian maidservant named Hagar; so she said to Abram, "The LORD has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my maidservant; perhaps I can build a family through her." Abram agreed to what Sarai said. So after Abram had been living in Canaan ten years, Sarai his wife took her Egyptian maidservant Hagar and gave her to her husband to be his wife. He slept with Hagar, and she conceived. When she knew she was pregnant, she began to despise her mistress. Then Sarai said to Abram, "You are responsible for the wrong I am suffering. I put my servant in your arms, and now that she knows she is pregnant, she despises me. May the LORD judge between you and me." "Your servant is in your hands," Abram said. "Do with her whatever you think best." Then Sarai mistreated Hagar; so she fled from her. The angel of the LORD found Hagar near a spring in the desert; it was the spring that is beside the road to Shur. And he said, "Hagar, servant of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going?" "I'm running away from my mistress Sarai," she answered. Then the angel of the LORD told her, "Go back to your mistress and submit to her." The angel added, "I will so increase your descendants that they will be too numerous to count." The angel of the LORD also said to her: "You are now with child and you will have a son. You shall name him Ishmael, for the LORD has heard of your misery. He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers." She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: "You are the God who sees me," for she said, "I have now seen the One who sees me." That is why the well was called Beer Lahai Roi; it is still there, between Kadesh and Bered. So Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram gave the name Ishmael to the son she had borne. Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore him Ishmael.

The Confession of Our Sins and Assurance of Pardon

“Almighty God, who does freely pardon all who repent and turn to Him, now fulfill in every contrite heart the promise of redeeming grace; forgiving all our sins, and cleansing us from an evil conscience; through the perfect sacrifice of Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.”

The Second Scripture Lesson Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her master. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear. Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

The Pastoral Prayer

&

The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Open the Eyes of My Heart/

Be Thou My Vision – arr. Hayes

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord, I want to see You. To see You high and lifted up, shining in the light of Your glory.

Pour out Your power and love as we sing, Holy, holy holy.

Be Thou my vision, O lord of my heart; Naught be all else to me save that Thou art: Thou my best thought, by day or by night,

Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

** Offertory Statement & Prayer of Dedication

But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us—see that you also excel in this grace of giving. I am not commanding you, but I want to test the sincerity of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.

Youth Small Groups (Evenings) Additionally, for the youth (MS & HS) on Sunday evenings, there are small groups from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at the home of Servy & Raquel Fernandez. The groups are studying: The Person of Jesus - How did Jesus react to people and

situations? And what does that communicate about love? In this excellent study we will take an in-depth look at love by focusing on the one truly good man, Jesus of Nazareth. Specifically, this fall semester we will look closely at the compassion of Jesus and explore the enemies of compassion such as judging, self-righteousness and legalism. This study is equally suited to discipling believers and helping non-believers discover the beauty of Jesus. Therefore, let’s sit at the feet of Jesus as the Holy Spirit ignites, rekindles, or fans the flame of our joy of knowing Jesus.

Adult Sunday School Walden Class: Judges, Part III - Room 108 Teacher: Bill Earnest Welcome to the Walden Adult Sunday School class. Don't leave after church service this morning; come join your brothers and sisters in Christ for fellowship time in the Snyder building followed by a great experience in Bible study. Today we will discuss how God used the telling of a 1/2 truth by men, and a terrible war, to bring mercy to a rebellious nation. The book of Judges is about "Judgment" and God is a just God. Some times His judgments are terrible and difficult for us to study. However it has been said: "It is much better to be scared out of Hell by accounts of God's judgment than for Satan to usher you in on a peaceful cloud of apathy! Join us in room 108; it will make your day! Studying Scripture – Room 102 Teacher: Joe DeNitto Have you ever had problems understanding God’s Word? When you come to a passage in the Bible that confuses you, do you tend to read past it? Would you like to have more tools to assist you in your Bible study? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this class is for you. In this class we will learn many ways to faithfully study the scriptures. We will apply these techniques to scripture passages, so that very practical methods will be developed for your study. Easy, medium and difficult scripture passages will be studied throughout the class. Participating in this class could change the way you read, think about & understand the Bible. Please join us in Room 102 each Sunday morning. Exploring Church Membership Class – Room 100 Teacher: Randy Johnson What is the church? What does it mean to be a member of a church, and specifically this church-Seminole PCA? Join Ruling Elder Randy Johnson in Room 100 where he will be answering these questions and many more about membership. Please note: attending this ten week class does not require that one become a member, but this class or its equivalent is required for membership.
