Operation

Ashearlockisdesignedtorelyontheshearstrengthofsteelforholdingforce.Astrongmagnetisenergizedthatattractsanarmaturewhichovercomesanairgaptoengagewiththemagnet.Themagnetandthearmature,besidesbeingbondedbymagneticforce,arealsodesignedtomechanicallyinterlock.Thisgivesthesystem3000poundsofholdingforce.Becauseofthisdesign,precisedoorandframepreparationisnecessary.Alsoimportantisthatthecenterlinesofthemagnetandarmaturelineuptoformaverticalaxis.Itisalsocriticalthattheairgapbeadjustedtobeascloseaspossiblewithoutinterferingwithdooroperation.Thisensuresthebestreliabilitypossible.

4a Mountthearmatureinthedoorbottomrail.(BRD)1. Mount mounting bracket to bottom rail using #10-24 x 3/4" Pan head screws supplied.2. Mount armaturetomountingbracket.3. Remove end capondoortoexpose adjustment. If doordoesn’thave a removable end cap,anaccessholewillhavetobe drilled in edge of door accordingtotheapproximate dimensions as shown.

4b Mount magnet into the threshold box.1. Placetwo

speed nuts perslot,sidebysideinflangesofbox.

2. Line up magnet over speed nuts. Insert #10-24 x 1/2" flat head screwsintomagnetbracketsandthroughspeednuts.Alignmagnet,makingsurecenterlinesofarmatureareonthecenterlinesofmagnet.Tightenscrews.

3. Ifneeded,addshimsundermagnettobringmagnetflushwithtopofthreshold. L NOTE: Top surface of magnet must not protrude above top surface of threshold.

4. Replacedooronhinges.5. Adjustarmature,usingadjustingscrewlocatedinaccessholesothattheclearancegapofapprox.1/16"betweenmagnetface

andarmatureisachieved.Itmaybenecessarytoslightlyre-adjustthegaptoachieveproperlockingactionandspringreturnactionwhenthemagnetisde-energized.

6. Ifdoor’sbottomraildepthisgreaterthan13/4",spacers(e)maybeneeded(one,1/8"thickspacerissupplied).7. Installdoorstatusswitchintoframeandactuatingmagnetintodoor.See"DoorStatusMonitor(DSM)(BRD)"onpage11.8. Afterallmagnetadjustmentshavebeencompleted,fillthethresholdboxwithasprayurethanefoaminsulationtokeepwater

1. Refertothewiringdiagram(page10)andnotelocationofATDarrow.

2. Withdooropen,applypower.3. Remove 5/64"hexheadscrewtoallowaccesstorecessedmomentarypushbuttonswitch.

4. Usingthehexwrenchprovided,depressandreleasetherecessedswitchonetimeforeachsecondofdelayrequired(max.=30seconds,min.=2seconds).Example:TosetATDto5seconds,depresstherecessedswitch5times.

L NOTE: If a mistake is made, wait 10 seconds, then repeat Step 4.

5. Reinstallhexheadscrew,aftersettingdesiredrelocktimedelay.

6. Closedoorandverifydelay.

BRD

1. VerifythattheexposedyellowwireontheARSisnotshortingagainstanything.

L IMPORTANT: Do not cut yellow wire.2. Withdooropen,applypower.3. TouchthevioletwiretotheblackARSwireonetimeforeachsecondofdelayrequired(maximum=30seconds,minimum=2seconds).Example:TosetATDto5seconds,touchthevioletwiretotheblackARSwire5times.
