day 1: darwin – Kakadu national ParkHit the road and head east along the Arnhem Highway to the Mary River for an exciting safari cruise on the wetlands. The wetland’s abundant wildlife has to be seen to be believed. Your expert guide, Scotty knows exactly where to spot the resident crocs and birdlife as he navigates a custom-made boat through the rich waters and lily pads. Continue on to Kakadu National Park, stopping for lunch along the way at Bark Hut. Visit Bowali Visitor Centre to view a series of informative displays on the National Park’s flora and fauna before you travel to Ubirr to discover ancient Aboriginal rock art. Your Driver Guide will interpret the meaning of the x-ray style paintings as you walk through the open air galleries. Ubirr’s natural rock shelters contain art that depicts creation ancestors and animals found around the surrounding floodplain such as Barramundi, goannas and long-necked turtles. Climb to Nadab lookout for spectacular

day 2: Kakadu national Park – KatherineThis morning travel to Gunlom Falls for the chance to swim in a natural infinity pool. You have the option to take a steep but rewarding climb to the top of the falls (easier walk with plunge pool access available). Cool down when you reach the top and take a dip in the serene plunge pools surrounded by gum trees with unbeatable views over the National Park. Afterwards continue to the small township of Pine Creek for lunch, then stop for an afternoon swim beneath the cascading waterfall at Edith Falls. Pass through the township of Katherine before you arrive at Nitmiluk Campground. Enjoy dinner with your fellow travellers before heading off to your permanent tent for the night! Hotel: Nitmiluk Permanent Tents (shared facilities), Katherine, 2 nights. B L D

the Katherine region and what it has to offer. Enjoy a leisurely morning canoeing through Katherine Gorge. You’ll be amazed by the glass-like reflections of the gorge and experience the beauty of the ancient waterway up close. Later you’ll join a guided tour of Cutta Cutta Caves. The surrounding bushland is home to five species of bats, including the rare ghost and horseshoe bats, as well as up to 170 species of birds. Next you’ll enjoy a picnic lunch at Mataranka Hot Springs. Afterwards, take a relaxing swim in the warm thermal pool and crystal clear streams or head off for a short bushwalk to check out the Roper River and Mataranka Falls. Return to the campground for dinner. B L D

day 4: Katherine – litchfield – farewell from darwinWake to the sounds of native birds and wildlife. After breakfast, depart Katherine and travel to Litchfield National Park. Cool down at Buley Rockhole, a series of plunge pools that cascade down the hillside. After a quick bite to eat at the Wangi Falls Café, enjoy a dip beneath Wangi’s tumbling waters. Head back to Darwin to visit the famous Mindil Beach Sunset Market. Enjoy the amazing sunset while you are entertained by buskers, bands and performers and don’t forget to taste the sensational food on offer and take home a handmade souvenir. Your Aussie Adventure concludes this evening in Darwin. B L

day 2: Kakadu national Park – farewell from darwin After breakfast, you’ll visit the fascinating ancient rock art site, Nanguluwur. A pleasant walk through woodlands leads to a quiet secluded art site with rock art that is unique to the region. Here you’ll see an example of contact art, including a painting of a two-masted sailing ship with dinghy trailing behind as well as dynamic and mythical figures with traditional hunting 

tools. Later in the day, venture off the beaten track to Maguk (Barramundi Gorge), where a 2 kilometre return walk through paperbark forest leads to a small waterfall and clear plunge pool. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the banks of the serene gorge and cool off with a swim before returning to Darwin. B LIn the event that seasonal conditions prevent access to Ubirr and/or Barramundi Gorge, the group will visit other attractions such as Nourlangie, Gubara Pools or Nawulandja.

Journey into Kakadu National Park and you‘ll be surrounded by vast tracks of savannah woodland, bordered by the largest wetland system in Australia. Pass through a variety of eco-systems such as monsoonal rainforest, sandstone country and the world’s most protected river system, the South Alligator River. In the cool of the mid-morning you’ll arrive at Kakadu’s premier art site, Ubirr. A guided walk will take you into numerous rock art galleries and shelters, which were used as recently as 40 years ago by the traditional owners of Kakadu. The paintings and views across the floodplains and sandstone country to Arnhem Land are breathtaking. After lunch you’ll visit Bowali Visitor Centre, where there’s free time to explore the 

numerous interactive displays, research library, theatres, art gallery and gift shop.Later, join a cruise on the Mary River Wetland system that houses the world’s highest concentration of crocodiles. The abundance of food which sustains the large crocodile population also feeds a myriad of bird species, wallabies and water buffalo. The aquatic and land-based food chain found throughout the billabong system is something that has to be seen to be believed. Finish your cruise amongst a stand of sacred lotus lilies with a glass of sparkling wine and a fresh tropical fruit platter to complement the majestic surrounds of these internationally significant wetlands. L

Leaving Darwin, you’ll follow the Stuart Highway then travel via the township of Batchelor to Litchfield National Park. Visit the main falls of the park, where there’s the opportunity for scenic and interpretive bush walks. View Florence Falls from a high vantage point before making your way down the stairs to the plunge pool below with an opportunity to swim. Return to the top via monsoon forest and open woodland. Head to Buley Rockhole for a swim then travel on to Tolmer Falls for a magnificent view of 

the water cascading down to the deep waterhole at the base of the waterfall. After lunch it’s on to Wangi Falls for another opportunity for a swim in the large crystal clear pool followed by an optional steady climb through the rainforest to the top of the falls. It’s a great day for taking fascinating photos, including the amazing stand of termite mounds, one of Litchfield National Park’s unique sights. L

day 1: Adelaide – Kangaroo islandTake in the rolling hills and coast line of the Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis. Board the SeaLink ferry to Kangaroo Island. On arrival in Penneshaw meet your Driver Guide. At Rob’s Sheep Shearing witness a shearing demonstration by a real Aussie character. Next stop is Pennington Bay, a spectacular beach and a great photo opportunity. Continue to Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, the only commercial eucalyptus distillery in South Australia. Visit Seal Bay to get up close to wild Australian sea lions who frolic on this stunning beach. At Little Sahara explore huge white sand dunes and test your skill at sandboarding. At Vivonne Bay Lodge enjoy some free time before our BBQ dinner. There’s the option to kayak on the Harriet River, swim at Vivonne Bay Beach, or take a self-guided walk through property tracks or trail bike riding. Hotel: Vivonne Bay Lodge (Dormitory, shared facilities) or (Private room, shared facilities), Kangaroo Island. L D

day 2: Kangaroo island – farewell from AdelaideAfter breakfast get up close to more wildlife at Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. Search for koalas nestled up in the eucalypts and see kangaroos grazing on the open fields. Continue onto Flinders Chase National Park where you will be amazed by Remarkable Rocks, huge granite boulders sculptured by nature. Visit Admirals Arch at Cape Du Couedic where you will see the resident New Zealand fur seals frolic in the ocean and sunbake on the rocks. Enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch at the Flinders Chase Visitor Centre. Head to the secluded ‘secret’ beach of Stokes Bay and take a walk at Ironstone Hill to find wallabies and admire the spectacular view back to the mainland. We head back to Penneshaw, allowing time to purchase dinner (own expense) before the return journey to Adelaide by Ferry and coach, where your Aussie adventure concludes. B L

Board the Kuranda Scenic Railway at Freshwater Station for an historic tropical train journey. Passing the spectacular Stoney Creek Falls your journey winds through man-made tunnels, across bridges and around curves. En route to Kuranda, a stop is made at Barron Falls. On arrival, there is free time to explore the ‘village in the rainforest’ and its many attractions, including the Kuranda Koala Gardens, the Heritage Markets, Birdworld, and the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary. After exploring, return on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. This will take you directly above the breathtaking canopy of the Barron Gorge National Park, which features 

some of the oldest rainforest in the world. Glide over the mighty Barron River en route to Barron Falls Station, where you’ll enjoy spectacular views of Barron Gorge, a deep chasm lined with dense rainforest vegetation. As you approach Red Peak Station, your gondola will descend through the canopy layers and take you deep in the forest. Your Aussie Adventure concludes at Smithfield Terminal, where you will be transferred to Cairns .

Today you’ll journey through the awe-inspiring landscapes of the Daintree and Port Douglas regions. On the Ngadiku Aboriginal Dreamtime Gorge Walk (pronounced Nar-di-gul) you’ll be welcomed with a ‘smoking ceremony’ that wards off bad spirits. Meander through rainforest and see traditional huts or humpies. Your interpretive Indigenous guide demonstrates traditional plant use, identifies bush tucker sources, and the Ngadiku’s special relationship with their tropical environment. At the end of the walk enjoy traditional bush tea and damper. Afterwards, your Driver Guide will point out the highlights of Mossman, Australia’s northern-
