THE WAY In today’s Gospel reading we hear part of Jesus’ discourse at the Last Supper as reported in the Gospel of John. “I am the way and the truth and life,” Jesus assures his disciples. At that time they did not understand what he meant; they wanted easy answers. “Just show us the Father,” Philip begged. But the first and second readings show us how the early church came to understand Jesus’ words. The amazing growth of the church led them to select seven men to do the works of service needed with so many new members. The followers of Jesus had grown in such numbers that Peter could exclaim in his Letter over the fact that Christ, the “rejected stone,” was now the cornerstone on whom the salvation of all the world rests. Down to this present day, he is truly the way, the truth, and the life. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

For the two years of this process, this parish community will become your community; this means that you’ll worship and participate in the parish life with us here at Most Holy Trinity Parish every Sunday and special events for those two years.

Nuevo en Santísima Trinidad? ¡Bienvenido!

COME GET AN APPLICATION TO MOST HOLY TRINITY SCHOOL!!!

Dear Parishioners of Most Holy Trinity Parish, May the Lord be with you on this blessed Sunday. We at the school hope you and your loved ones have had a wonderful week. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that we hold an open house at Most Holy Trinity School every Wednesday from 9 a.m. until noon. We are in the middle of our registration period for the 2014-2015 school year, and we would love to have more parishioners join our school community. Come learn more about Most Holy Trinity and a Catholic education before our classes fill up! The highlight of this week for our students took place on Wednesday when we held a school-wide Flores de Mayo celebration. Every class processed around the school and church while we recited the Rosary together in honor of the Glorious Mysteries. The beautiful statue of Mary present in the church led us in our parade. The students loved the opportunity to gather as a school and pray using their very own special rosaries. All of Most Holy Trinity School is eagerly looking forward to Spirit Week this coming week. On Wednesday we will hold our annual Jog-a-thon, which students have been fundraising for for several weeks. This year, we added an online donation option, which will hopefully assist us in raising funds for a canopy to be placed over our benches and playground. Later this week, the sixth grade class will showcase their year-long country projects at International Day. Each student has been studying a particular nation throughout the year, and they will each display everything they have learned on a table in the gymnasium on Thursday. International Day provides a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn more about countries all over the world. We're sorry to not have a school mass this month, but today is the Diocesan Track Meet at Archbishop Mitty High School and we have an excited and enthusiastic team participating!! I hope you and your families have a wonderful weekend and may God bless you in the coming week!

Most Holy Trinity Preschool

Thank you to all of the wonderful parishioners who have supported our preschool since opening in August of 2012. We are about halfway through our second year and we could not be more proud of what these young children are now able to accomplish. We are now working on our plan to expand the preschool from a maximum of 14 students at any time to 28 students at any time. We are starting the project in February to update the outside of the preschool to meet all of the necessary conditions given by the city. The rest of the project is going to be worked on over the summer. We are working on raising $85,000 over the next few months so that we can complete the project. We are hoping that parishioners will be able to come out to our fund raising events, such as the first bingo of every month, to help support the preschool project. We are beginning the enrollment process for the 2014-2015 school year. If you are interested in Most Holy Trinity Preschool please feel free to contact Jessica Roberts at (408) 929-2287. Thank you for your continual support! Most Holy Trinity Preschool LIC# 434412400 2033 Nassau Drive, San Jose, CA 95122 408-929-2287

May 18, 2014 TODAY IS HEALTH SUNDAY COME TO THE TRINITY

CENTER AFTER MASS TO GET YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE AND BLOOD SUGAR CHECKED

Everyone feels stress in different amounts and reacts to it in different ways. How much stress you feel and how you react to it can lead to a wide variety of health problems — and that’s why it’s critical to know what you can do about it. Stress and Your Heart More research is needed to determine how stress contributes to heart disease — the leading killer of Americans. But stress may affect behaviors and factors that are proven to increase heart disease risk: high blood pressure and cholesterol levels, smoking, physical inactivity and overeating. And stress may hurt your head, strain your back and make your stomach hurt. It can also zap your energy, interrupt your sleep and make you feel cranky, forgetful and out of control. A stressful situation sets off a chain of events. Your body releases adrenaline, a hormone that causes your breathing and heart rate to speed up and your blood pressure to rise. These reactions prepare you to deal with the situation — the "fight or flight" response.

When stress is constant, your body remains in high gear off and on for days or weeks at a time. Although the link between stress and heart disease isn’t clear, chronic stress may cause some people to drink too much alcohol which can increase your blood pressure and may damage the artery walls.
