DESCRIPTION

Organizations are not merely competing with each other for customer and clients; but more for talent. With the demand supply mismatch as a given, organizations are hard at work trying to unlock the treasure of talent that visit their websites and apply for job, and reside in social media sites. So much so that in their bid to attract the most talented and qualified pool of applicants companies besides having a dedicated job / career web-link on their corporate site have also launched a social networking search engine to tap into the potential recruits. The Context While these are true in the Indian context too, the question is how talent friendly are these efforts; for unless organizations (potential recruiters) are talent friendly in terms of attracting, hiring and providing information, they are at risk of losing the war for talent. The 18-35 generation live in the era of smart phones, for them social media is the new normal and hence it is all the more necessary for organizations to transform themselves and make better use of technology to share information, connect & collaborate. Given this pervasiveness of technology in terms of recruitment; the Global Talent Metric (GTM) – People Matters, “Most Talent Friendly Web site” is an effort to identify and recognize the companies that provide the best experience on their web site for their prospective talent community and deliver experience to be ‘an employer of choice.’ There is no denying the fact that it is the human capital that drives business and to do so organizations need to hire talent. For this, organizations need to develop a framework and operationalize the same; i.e. the corporate job site (web and social media) needs to particularly attract, inform, inspire, engage and respect the potential recruit. To put things into perspective, how easy is to find the job section and how are the social hiring tools (LinkedIn, Facebook etc) leveraged; are there detailed information regarding the job and career prospects which can help a potential recruit in taking the right decision; are the responses generic or customized; are a few amongst other consideration that show the intent of the organization in terms of time and effort put in by them to attract the right talent. Four out of every five companies used social media for hiring while 66 percent of them have a corporate page on social media platform.
