MOTHERLAND MOTHER CHURCH

Motherland “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” William Saroyan

“If I were to be asked where on the planet Earth one can see the most incredible wonders, I would first of all say – Armenia…”,

Rockwell Kent

“There is no other land in the world so full of wonders as the land of Armenians...

But whatever may have been their destiny, and it has been bitter, whatever it may be in future, their country must ever be one of the

most interesting in the world“.George Gordon Byron

MY MEJISTY MY MOTHER Any kind of virtue is compared with Mother for Armenians. Mother is the supporting column in the family, Mother bears the soldiers of the Motherland, Mother is the source of purity, honesty, love and respect.

The poem by famous poet Hovhannes Shiraz speaks for itself. He speaks for all Armenians. My mother is our aspirations indeed,She is our home chapel indeed. My mother is our cradleOur family backbone is my mother. My mother is like a father as well as a mother,She is our sole mistress. My mother is the homeless of our homeOur eagle nest is our mother. Our family maid is my mother,As well as the queen of our family. My mother is insoluble,Yet she is our remedy and the solution. My mother is our family springAnd also our thirsty sister. My mother is our home sleepless person,And yet she is our sweet sleep indeed. My mother is our bread Our family Goddess is my mother indeed.

MAYRASAR ( A MOUNTIAN FOR MOTHERS) A hole place which is called MAYRASAR got its birth of a toast around traditional Armenian table. A toast for mothers by Edward Khlghatyan was not just something said and forgotten. The idea of rename the highest peak in Vanadzor by Mayrasar had to become a reality. And that reality was born in 2008. The mountain which is 2707 meters high from above the sea level is now and then a holy place for millions of Armenians. Mother’s Statue which is a collective figure prays for her children all over the world and her holy soul hovers high in the sky close to GOD. Even if there is the second flood the Mother’s Statue will be saved and will stay as proud as it stays.

KHACHQAR ( CROSS STONE)A khachkar, also known as Armenian cross-stones (Armenian: , խաչքարpronounced [χɑtʃʰˈkʰɑɾ], խաչ xačʿ "cross" + քար kʿar "stone") is a carved, memorial stele bearing a cross, and often with additional motifs such as rosettes, interlaces, and botanical motifs. Khachkars are characteristic of Medieval Christian Armenian art.Since 2010, khachkars, their symbolism and craftsmanship are inscribed in the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The most common khachkar feature is a cross surmounting a rosette or a solar disc.
