Christmas, a time of refl ection for us all

It is this time of the year that we all start preparing for the BIG DAY!

As many of our Hindi speaking brothers and sis-ters would say, “Bada Din” - which commonly refers to Christmas – one of the most sacred and auspicious occa-sions in the Christian cal-endar marking the birth of Lord Jesus Christ.

Fiji is indeed a blessed nation and it is our common understanding and tolerance for each other, different reli-gions and a great sense of in-tegration which sets us apart from the rest of the world.

Indeed when the late Pope John Paul during his visit to our beautiful nation in the 80’s said, “Fiji – the way the world should be”, it is some-

thing which came from his heart and that phrase contin-ues to inspire all Fijians for now and defi nitely for the future.

Our beautiful nation with its rich fabric of society has many celebrations in differ-ent quarters of the year and it is now time to prepare our-selves for Christmas.

Christmas meaning ‘Christ’s Mass’ is an an-nual festival commemorat-ing the birth of Jesus Christ observed on December 25 as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world and Fiji being a small is-land nation is defi nitely no exception. While Fiji is pre-dominantly populated by followers of Christian faith,

for many decades, people of other religious backgrounds have been celebrating this auspicious occasion in their own way with families and friends uniting after days and sometimes even months of being away from each other.

God has blessed Fiji with everything one needs to live and prosper. Our gardens are full of healthy tropical fruits and vegetables, likewise our rivers full of water. We have the best weather any other country may ever dream of.

Despite having all these natural luxuries of life, we often forget to note and act upon the true meaning of celebrating such auspicious occasions.

In other words, we seem

to have taken God’s gifts to us for granted, often misus-ing the natural treasure our nation possesses, wasting our food and drinks to the extent that might look to-tally wrong to those living in countries facing famine.

Lord Jesus Christ has shown us a path of light and glory. He has shown us that

simplicity and basic things in life are the best things to hold onto.

He has also shown us that life is not meant to be easy. In fact, all prophets have also endured great hardships and struggles for the benefi t of mankind.

I have a very simple mes-sage for us all this Christmas

– let’s stop taking things for granted and enjoy life in a humble manner.

Be humble and never think that you are better than anyone else. “For dust you are; and unto dust you shall return.” – GENESIS 3.19.

May you all have a very joyous Christmas and a prosperous new year!

Work on the development of a multi-million-dollar com-mercial complex is set to go full speed following the ground breaking ceremony on Friday, November 27.

Known as the ‘Motibhai Business Park’, the new complex which will cover an area of 13,000 square metres will enable Motibhai Group to position itself for future operations.

The entire project which is being looked after by Execu-tive Director Mr Bhupendra Patel will enable the Group to centralize all its western division operations under one roof.

“The new business park will be a one-stop-shop for us,” said Mr Patel.

“At the moment our warehouses are scattered all over the place from Ba up to Nadi and the new complex will have a centralized operation to make day-to-day business much smoother and effi cient for us,” he added.

Mr Patel said once complete, the new complex will also have a full scale joinery workshop, refrigeration workshop together with cold storage facilities to cater for Burger King Fiji operations.

Sardar gives a tick to CLUB

Sardar Bayant Singh of Vo-tualevu loves his drinks and there is no doubt about it.

A successful farmer and community leader, Mr Singh likes to end his hard day’s work with a drink or two.

When recently interviewed during his shopping routine at New World IGA in Nadi, Mr Singh did not hold back his satisfaction about the CLUB brand of Soda and Tonic Water.

“I love to mix my drinks with CLUB,” Mr Singh said.

He said during a recent sit-ting with a friend in Korovuto, Nadi, they tried something new with CLUB Soda Water and it turned out into a delight.

“Wow, I cannot explain this in words, you got to try it yourself. We mixed Vodka with CLUB Soda Water and freshly squeezed lemon juice and the taste was just out of this world.”

On a positive note, Mr Singh is defi nitely not the only one who talks in such a way about CLUB range of products.

Already very popular in the local market, the CLUB range which comes in three variants – Tonic Water, Soda Water and Ginger Ale has been produced locally since 2013.

Just in two-years, CLUB has gained huge popularity amongst local consumers and corporate customers in the hos-pitality industry.

The brand has become an

all-time favourite for bartenders in our leading resorts, hotels, night clubs and restaurants as great mixers for cocktails and spirits or as a drink itself.

Barman Jona of The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa uses the CLUB brand to prepare drinks for his guests daily.

“Our guests at the resort love the CLUB Tonic Water, Soda Water and Ginger Ale either as

a mixer to their drinks or just as it is,” Jona said.

“The CLUB brand has been received well in the market and we are happy to supply a quality product which has been made affordable,” Motibhai Group marketing manager Abraham Gomes said.

“We have seen the benefi ts of providing the best product at the right price so the end users

are able to enjoy CLUB range of beverages at a better price as an ingredient to their food and beverage or as a direct drink without having to compromise on quality,” Mr Gomes added.

CLUB range of products are manufactured by PET Technol-ogy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Motibhai Group – bringing quality products for you and your family.

Sardar Bayant Singh of Votualevu, Nadi says he just loves to mix his drinks with CLUB Tonic Water and Soda Water.

Unilever conference a success

Since 2012 Unilever International has been hosting a business confer-ence every year and this year’s event was the fourth consecutive one.

Held during the months November and December, the conference is well attended by all Unilever distributors (business partners) from the pacifi c island countries who are invited for this conference which is held at the Unilever International Training / Conference Centre in Singapore.

This year the conference and workshop sessions were held from Novem-ber 16 – 20.

While the total journey time from Nadi to Singapore is around 16-hours via Sydney, Australia including transit, the four-day event is full of glam-our and an opportune time to mingle around with fellow distributors from other countries and share ideas as well.

This year there were 17 distributors (business partners) who attended the conference from the pacifi c islands.

In total there were around 40 to 45 delegates without including the twen-ty Unilever members who were basically our hosts for the event.

In the conference the President / Vice President / Business Development Directors and Managers / Category (Brand) Managers / Marketing Direc-tors and Managers were present and the sessions were conducted by them as well.

Also, when it came to different workshop sessions those distributors who were involved in those categories were to attend them.

This conference is an avenue to meet once again the whole team from Unilever and to have one to one interaction with all their executives.

Also, this venue is where we get an opportunity to hear about new prod-uct development / introductions and also various marketing initiatives be-ing planned.

The climax of the conference is when both the distributors and the Uni-lever team sign off the targets and Asia-Pacifi c spends for the following year.
