GLOBAL MARKET SHARE: Smartphones Consumers are less likely to switch to another platform if they have to buy all their applications again. RIM has underesti - mated the iPhone and iPad. The PlayBook has earned a fair share of negative reviews based on some of its current shortcomings. With smartphone sales down, this has caused RIM to cut its sales target for PlayBook tablets in the second quarter to one-third of its original estimate.
