THE DISTRICT & SCHOOL

Motumaoho began as a communications link between

Morrinsville and Hamilton. The Motumaoho CheeseFactory was opened in 1914 and continued to beoperational until its closure in 1983.

A one roomed school was built on the site in 1912 and, with later additions was in use until 1969, when it wasdemolished after being replaced by a modern schoolcomplex complete with small library and staff-roomtransported to Motumaoho from Ohautira.

The latter complex forms most of the existing schooltoday, with the addition of the present library (aformer Post Office) and in recent times, the new deckin front of the school.

Our present school is an important part of theMotumaoho District, and is a contributing schoolwhich caters for Year 0 (New Entrants) up to Year 6.
