• RICS completed a survey into British Housing Stock (The Incidence of Toxic Mould in the Indoor Environment of Dwellings in England and Wales).

•23% suffer from Black Mould (Toxic Mould).

•1 in 5 households have Asthma

•1.2 million children have Asthma

•Mould is one of the most common triggers for Asthma.

Consequences for tenants

• Exposure to high levels may cause, rashes, aggravation of Asthma, cold like symptoms.

• Evidence linking exposure to mould to pulmonary hemosidersis (bleeding in the lungs) in infants.

A class 1 hazard – the same class as Asbestos
