Before you relocate, you’ll need to inform a lot many companies and people about the change of address. Most importantly, you’ll need to call your bank and utility companies about your plan to relocate. If you child is going to school, you’ll need to carry out necessary formalities related to relocation and admitting your child to new school.

At least a month or two in advance, get your tickets done. If you have a pet, arrange a flight that will allow you to carry them

If you have not used something for a year, you probably don’t need it. Get over your emotional attachment as moving things involve transportation cost and stress. If you have spare furniture or there is furniture that will not be required in your new house, you can organize a backyard sale and make some money. If you are packing yourself, you’ll have to arrange sufficient packaging supplies such as cardboard boxes and tapes. If any of your friends has recently made a move, you can ask if they would pass down their packaging material to you, this will save you money.

Packing in an unplanned manner will make you go mad searching for your stuff. Ideal way is to go packing room-wise. So pack your kitchen stuff separately from your living room things. Miscellaneous things that cannot be categorized in any room can be packed separately. Put a label over the box and if possible write down the things contained in the box. Pack the essentials separately and mark it important. Take specific care of your valuables and important documents.

Do not hesitate to take help of your friends for getting guidance or coming down to help you if you find it hard to pack things on your own. Also, remember to delegate responsibility to all your family members to make moving-in less taxing and more fun.
