- 1. Moving Tips to Make Your Life Easy Your desire to move may have sprouted for several different reasons. You may have decided to move because you simply wish to live independently, or youve moved elsewhere as a result of a new job. Whatever the reason, moving is an overwhelming and difficult task. Its time consuming and a lot of work. There are a lot of things that go into moving and packing. It takes planning and organizing. Pack an Overnight Bag First off, youll want to pack an overnight bag containing the essentials. These essentials include clothes for a couple of days while youre in the process of unpacking and moving in. You should also prepare an outfit appropriate for work. You may have to start a new job in a new city or return back to your job immediately after your move. More than likely, youll be way too tired to unpack your things quickly. This bag will ensure youll have what you need for a few days. You should also pack all your toiletries and perhaps your laptop along with other valuables that could be lost, damaged or stolen throughout the move.
- 2. Use of Clear Bins You may find it helpful to pack the items youll need first in a clear plastic bin. The clear bins may include box cutters, paper towels, trash bags, utensils, cookware, power strips and toilet paper. These are all items youll need for moving in and out. By using the clear box, you can easily distinguish it from the rest. It also saves you some time, rather than labeling box by box. Aside from using clear bins, youll find it helpful to use small clear sandwich bags. These small sandwich bags are convenient and useful for holding small parts from items youve had unassembled like curtain rods or flat-screen TVs. Clear sandwich bags are easy to label and reuse. Penny Pinching When moving, youll come across a few unexpected expenses while packing, moving and unloading. One of which includes bubble wrap. Instead of spending any money on bubble wrap, use clothing to wrap your breakables like dishes, glasses, etc. Its like killing two birds with one stonepacking your clothes and kitchenware at the same time. Another strategy for extra padding is socks! You can pack your glasses and stemware in clean socks. Labeling Boxes Apart from simply labeling whats in your boxes, you might find it helpful to label where a box will belong or what room its going to. Youll want to label the sides of the boxes, not the tops so you can easily identify them when they are stacked. Arriving to your new home is overwhelming. Unpacking by room is a great strategy to reduce clutter and chaos. It also keeps you limited to working on one room at a time as opposed to unloading everything all at once. Creating that sort of clutter may overwhelm you and deter you from staying motivated to clean and finish up the job.
- 3. Another useful method is a color-coding system. Simply pick a color code for each room and label the boxes that will be for each designated room accordingly. You can use stickers or tape so local movers know where to place boxes. If neither of those systems works for you, you can make a detailed corresponding list of whats in each of your boxes by using a number system. This makes it simple and easy to make sure you havent forgotten any boxes or had anything stolen. Moreover, if theres anything of great value in your boxes, you wont have to broadcast such information by writing it down on the box for the whole world to see. Dishes and Breakables Now ladies, weve all experienced a broken compact mirror or powdered makeup. Whats a great way to prevent that? By placing an extra cotton pad or ball into powder cosmetics, you can keep them from breaking. Its not only a great moving tip, but also a great tip in general. Additionally, cover the openings of your toiletries with saran wrap and then place the tops back on. This easily keeps your toiletries from breaking and leaking all over your belongings during the move. This works for soap, lotion, perfume, etc.
- 4. Did you know that packing your plates vertically will decrease their chances of being broken during the move? Place them vertically much like one would store records. Youll want to use the same method of covering the dishes with bubble wrap, or as we discussed earlierclothing! Hiring Movers If you have a great deal of fragile valuables, Tucson local movers may be smarter than asking your friends to help. Many movers are insured; meaning if something is broken or damaged, you will be compensated. Dont be afraid to weigh the pros and cons though. If you do decide to hire a moving company, you should be sure to look into Tucson movers and book them a few weeks in advance. Keep in mind you arent the only person trying to get out of your apartment or home on the last day of the month. Furthermore, you want to be sure to read the fine print and find out if they have any specific rules and regulations. For example, some movers may be restricted to moving things in boxes. They may not be willing to work with stuff in garbage bags or other forms of packing material. This may put you in an undesirable positionpaying extra for boxes you dont actually need.
