• Initial goal: Interconnect with the PBX

• The PBX not operational

• Solution: 1 line backup gateway

• Network with private IPs share a public IP

• Source IP put in SIP message.

• Port binding expiration

NAT – Network Address Translation

• Nathelper module in SER and PortaOne RTP proxy

• Rewrite private IP addresses in SIP messages

• Process RTP stream

NAT Traversal Solution

• Scalability: only private IPs all traffic goes via RTP proxy.

• Traffic in department stays in the subnet

• Change order of preferred codecs when traffic leaves subnet
