I. The National CountrySTAT Website
• The Mozambican CS was launched at Maputo in 10th March 2011 with 38 data set
– Data set at national and sub national level
• The National Secretariat (6 members) and the Data Reference Group (12 members) were created
• Data supplied by the Data Reference Group (INE, MINAG, MPESCAS,MCOM, Customs Authority).
– Now 56 data set are available

II. Improvement of data quality
Efforts should be addressed in order to:
– Better planning
– Commitment from the authorities to allocate the more resources to undertake the surveys according to the designed sample, good practices of data collection and timeliness;

– Regularly undertake agricultural annual surveys aligned
with the agricultural census.
– To assess the quality of administrative data to complement the statistical data in the system (livestock data at lower level, data on some specific crops, etc).
– More involvement from all the sectors of the TWG for discussion of the data published in the website

Discrepancy Analysis
–The discrepancy between FAO STAT Data and CountrySTAT data, is based on source of data, used.
• FAO Stat has estimated the data
• FAO Stat has data from “early warning”
• CountrySTAT has data from (IAI)Annual Agriculture Survey
• CountrySTAT has data from the sectors
• Lack of integration between the different data sources

• Improvement in data collection methods in the Annual Agriculture survey – (IAI is underway in order to improve this gap in accordance to the Agricultural Master Plan recently released)

• CountryStat as the main hub of Agriculture Statistics of Mozambique

CountryStat data & CountrySTAT Website
CountryStat was included as a part of course on data sources for Journalist, September 2011 (performed but is meant to be an activity remains).
The Secretariat of CS prepared a one day training material for the course on CountryStat
CountrySTAT Dissemination by Province, once we could provide more data for sub national level.

Conclusion
• For improvement of data quality:
- is the prospect of creating a center for harmonizing the methodologies for collecting processing and dissemination of agricultural statistics.
- Ongoing harmonization of methodologies, concepts and definition of different statistical process and stakeholders.
