MPOS SOLUTIONS – VENDOR STATUS NOV 2013

The short brief after last certification process of mPOS solutions. This is only for view about vendor positionsand implementations. The graphs are not exact because of several vendors use the one reader, so the avail-ability for PIN depends on reader capability.

Operation systemsThe OS trends respect users choosing, it's shown that iOS (mostly 4+) and Android (mostly 2+) have similarposition in the vendor implementations. The BlackBerry with OS 10 version is also in vendor scope.

Reader implementationsThe major part of implementations are with magstripe reader, but it is good news that EMV chip readers arein market too. The typical EMV chip solutions contains magstripe reader (fallback processing). Manual PANenter is presented in all Northern America solutions, in other solutions is not so often. As is expected allcontactless solutions are presented with PIN capability.

PIN acceptanceAs in previous chapter, the position of the Northern America vendors is specific and PIN isn't mandatoryreason for theirs implementations, that's depends on historical US position in the card solutions. The Europestill holds its PIN friendly position. The Europe vendors covers EU bank requirements to process PIN opera-tions because EMV chip cards are the largest brand in banks products (means standard credit/debitproducts). The Eastern Asia is generally Russia and India solutions, and for the Western Asia is better namethe Asia Dragons.
