India‟s first cow sanctuary Kamdhenu Gau Abhyaranya in Madhya Pradesh to be privatised o India’s first cow sanctuary Kamdhenu Gau Abhyaranya in Agar

Malwa, Madya Pradesh (set up in September 2017) will be privatised due to financial crises.

o Non Government Organisation (NGO) Akshaypatra has showed interest to look into the issues of poor management & regular deaths of cow in the sanctuary and manage it at no profit no loss basis.

o Kamdhenu Gau Abhyaranya It was developed by the MP Gau Samvardhan Board by

spending about Rs 32 crore Around 4,000 cows are living in the sanctuary spread across 472 hectares and in 2018, more than

600 cows had died due to extreme weather conditions.

Madhya Pradesh will soon be able to produce its own seeds o The Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Seed Federation will produce its own seeds in addition with

distribution and marketing of certified and high-quality seeds to farmers. o The brand name of seeds to be ‘Sah-Beej’ produced from next Rabi season. o The decision was taken in a meeting Board of Directors’ held under the chairmanship of Govind Singh,

Minister for Cooperatives in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. o Seed societies in the state are linked with seed federation and will help in the marketing of seeds. o Training will also be given to members of seed societies through agriculture science centres to make

them competent and empowered.

Madhya Pradesh got its First International Flight with Air India‟s Service from Indore-Dubai o On July 15, 2019, Madhya Pradesh got its First International

Flight with the launch of a flight service to Dubai from the Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar International Airport, Indore with a national carrier Air India (Flight AI 903) with 150 passengers.

o It was flagged off by Air India Chairman Ashwani Lohani along with local Parliamentarian Shankar Lalwani in the presence of former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.

o Air India is operating aircraft which will fly three times a week – Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from Indore to Dubai.

Lalji Tandon sworn in as the Governor of Madhya Pradesh o On July 29, 2019, Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lalji

Tandon was sworn in as the 28th Governor of Madhya Pradesh. o He was administered oath by the Madhya Pradesh High Court

Chief Justice Ravi Shankar Jha at a function in Raj Bhawan, Bhopal in the presence of Chief Minister Kamal Nath, state ministers and bureaucrats.

o He succeeds Anandiben Patel who is appointed as governor of Uttar Pradesh.

Smt. Lalitha of Barwani district of the state was honored with the “Haladhar Organic Farmer National Award” by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

A mobile app called “UPAY” (“उपाय”) has been prepared by the state government

to register complaints related to electricity.

Impressed by the functioning of Madhya Pradesh Police, the British Government will provide financial assistance to the State Police Department for training and research work.

Madhya Pradesh's largest science research center will be set up at Holkar College, Indore.

In the case of malnutrition, Madhya Pradesh ranks third in the country. According to statistics, every seventh child in Madhya Pradesh's Jhabua district is malnourished.

Sanjay Gandhi Environment Mission has been started in Madhya Pradesh under which 5 crs saplings will be planted every year.

Khandwa district has been ranked first as an aspirational district in the field of health and nutrition by NITI Aayog. Earlier, the district was ranked 91st by the NITI Aayog in the field of health.

Former Rajya Sabha MP Ms.Anasuya Uikey has been made the Governor of

Chhattisgarh. Anasuya Uikey, a resident of Chhindwara, is also the Deputy Chairman of the National Scheduled Tribes Commission.

Indore has the lowest unemployment rate in the state of M.P

National Sample Survey of India (NSSO) released periodic labour force survey. As per this survey Indore has the lowest unemployment rate in the state of M.P. The survey included 45 cities. M.P‟s 3 cities Indore, Bhopal and Gwalior got 7th,13th and 14th rank respectively.

Central minister Dr. Thawar Chand Gehlot became the leader of the upper house of Indian Parliament.

He is Rajya Sabha M.P from Madhya Pradesh. He is 1st from M.P to become leader of Upper House.

India‟s 1st child friendly court established in Ujjain. Supreme Court recently instructed all the states to establish Child friendly court. Ujjain became the 1st district in India to open 1st child friendly court in India.

Shri. Virendra Kumar became Protem Speaker for 17th Loksabha o Shri Virendra kumar is Member of Parliament from Tikamgarh. He became Member of Parliament for

from Chinndwara. As per Indian Constitution, a person holding a post of Chief minister or a member of Council of minister has to become member of legislative assembly within 6 months.

Madhya Pradesh Cabinet passed resolution to increase reservation for OBCs from 14% to 27%. On June 3, 2019, The cabinet of Madhya Pradesh (MP) state Government passed the resolution to increase the reservation quota for OBC (Other Backward Class) from the current 14 per cent to 27 Per cent. The resolution will be taken in the monsoon session of the state assembly.

Bancha village (Betul district of Madhya Pradesh) became the first solar kitchen. It is the first village in India to have zero wooden stoves and almost no use of LPG cylinders with all its 75 houses relying on solar-powered stoves to meet their cooking needs.

50th Mumtaz Mahal Festival was celebrated on 16th and 17th June at Burhanpur District.The real name of Mumtaz Mahal was Anjumand Banu. Mumtaz Mahal died in the royal palace of Burhanpur on 7 June 1631 while giving birth to her 14th child. After this, her body was taken to Ahukhana. Mumtaz's body was placed in a tomb in a special coffin in Pine Bagh near Ahukhana. The body was kept here for six months in the tomb. After this, when the Taj Mahal work in Agra was completed, the dead body was taken from the tomb to Agra and kept in the Taj Mahal.

Every year a hockey tournament will be organized in memory of Kishan Dada. Kishan Lal ji was born on 2 February 1917 in Mhow, Indore. In 1948, under the captaincy of Kishan Lalji, India won its first gold medal in independent India at the London Olympics. He was conferred with the Padma Shri in 1966 by the then President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

o Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) 1. India is the founding member of KPCS and is the chair of Kimberley Process Certification Scheme

for the year 2019 with the Russian Federation as Vice Chair. 2. It outlines rules that govern trade in rough diamonds. 3. Participants: At present, KPCS has 55 members representing 82 countries including European

Union with 28 members. 4. India had earlier chaired KPCS in the year 2008.

o Kimberley Process

o It is international certification scheme that regulates trade in rough diamonds with aim of

preventing flow of conflict diamonds, while helping to protect legitimate trade in rough

diamonds.

o It is joint initiative involving Government, international diamond industry and civil society to

stem flow of Conflict Diamonds.

o The Plenary meeting of Kimberley Process is scheduled to be held from 11th to 15th

November 2019 in New Delhi.

Madhya Pradesh records highest increase in polling percentage o Madhya Pradesh with a polling percentage of 71.20 recorded in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls has set a

record. o Madhya Pradesh has also become the state which has the highest increase in polling percentage

points as compared to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. o In 2014, Madhya Pradesh had recorded a voter turnout of 61.57 per cent and registered an increase

of 9.53 per cent as against the 2009 polls. The national average of polling stood at 67.5 per cent. o Highest percentage of voting took place in the district of Chhindwara 82.10%

Harda district of Madhya Pradesh becomes the first where women handle entire work of counting votes o In Harda district of Madhya Pradesh, women will handle the entire work of counting votes. This first

of its kind initiative was taken for the empowerment of women. o Key Points:

Harda district is a part of Betul parliamentary seat and the counting of votes of Timarni and Harda assembly segments will take place at Harda district headquarter.

Presently, 84 women are being trained for counting in at Polytechnic College. Besides counting of votes, only the women will be deployed for the security of the counting

centre.

The architectural heritage of Orchha town in Madhya Pradesh has been added to the Tentative List of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. The architectural heritage of Orchha town depicts a unique style of the Bundela dynasty.

o The government is going to build the country's first diamond museum in Khajuraho of

Chhattarpur district.

o In this museum, 323 carat diamonds will be kept, which were extracted by Australian diamond

auctioned.

Shakuntala D. Gamlin laid foundation stone for NIMHR in Sehore, MP o The foundation stone for the ‘National Institute of Mental Health Rehabilitation’ (NIMHR), the first-

of-its-kind institute in India, was laid down by Shakuntala D. Gamlin, Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment at Sherpur Village along Bhopal-Sehore highway, District Sehore, Madhya Pradesh.

o The Central Government approved an outlay of Rs 180 crore for the project for an initial period of three years.

Gondi Language to be included in primary education in MP‟s tribal districts

o Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath declared that Gondi language will be included in the primary education curriculum of the state’s tribal-dominated districts, due to the rising concern of a rapid decline in the number of people who speak that tongue.

o Related Information Gond Tribe o The Gondi or Gond people are Adivasi (indigenous people) of India listed as a Scheduled

Tribe. o They are spread over the states of Madhya Pradesh, eastern Maharashtra (Vidarbha),

Madhya Pradesh to increase the OBC quota and implement EWS o The government of Madhya Pradesh has announced the increase of the reservation quotas for the

OBCs and has stated that it would also implement 10 per cent quota for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) under the general category.

o The government has proposed to increase the reservation for OBCs from the current 14% to 27%. Madhya Pradesh already has 36% reservation for scheduled castes and tribes. The increase in the reservation for OBCs and 10% reservation for EWS will take the reservation in the state to 73%.

o Legal Challenges o Since the reservations, breaches the 50 per cent cap set by the Supreme Court in the Indra

Sawhney case judgement, the proposed reservation module is said to be legally untenable. o Even though states like Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh have reservations breaching the cap of

50% they were implemented well before the Indra Sawhney case judgement. Earlier states like Rajasthan and Maharashtra had announced reservations exceeding 50 per cent but they couldn’t implement it.

o Even the 10 per cent quota for EWS proposed by the Central government already questioned in Supreme Court, the decision of the Madhya Pradesh government is bound to face legal challenges.

Centre for Disability Sports to come up at Gwalior o The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal for setting up of a Centre for Disability Sports at Gwalior

in Madhya Pradesh. The Centre for Disability Sports, Gwalior will be set up at an estimated cost f Rs 170.99 crore, spread over a period of 5 years.

o Centre for Disability Sports o The Centre of Disability Sports would be registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. o The centre would create an improved sports infrastructure to ensure effective participation of

persons with disabilities in sports activities and also enable them to compete at national and international levels.

o The centre would aid in developing a sense of belonging in Divyangjan to facilitate their integration in society.

o A governing body consisting of not exceeding 12 members would be set up for overall superintendence and supervision of the Centre with representation for experts from National Level Sports Federations apart from experts in para games.

o The index has shown that, in the years between 2005-06 and 2015-16, 271 million people are moved out of poverty in India.

o Highlights of the Report o Apart from the huge progress, India is still home to the highest number of MPI poor

Madhya Pradesh Government launched 100-day employment scheme for youths o Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath launched the State Government’s flagship scheme

‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Swabhiman Yojana’ that guarantees 100 days of employment every year to urban youth from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). a) Under the scheme, Rs 4,000 stipend per month during 100 days of period, would be given to the

youth and they will also be given skill development training in order to become independent. b) Each youth enrolled under the scheme will get total Rs 13,500 for the 100 days period. c) Only those youths, whose family’s annual income is less than Rs 2 lakh and who are in the age

group of 21-30 years, are eligible for the scheme.

2 new NIDs inaugurated at Bhopal and Jorhat by Suresh Prabhu o National Institutes of Design (NID) at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh and Jorhat in Assam were

inaugurated by Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation. a) They are autonomous institutions and under the Department for Promotion of Industry and

International Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry. b) NID Jorhat (Assam) is the first Design Institution at the national level in the North Eastern Region

of India. c) The recommendation for setting up design institutes, was given by National Design Policy (2007). d) 4 new NIDs have been set up in Andhra Pradesh (Amaravati), Assam (Jorhat), Madhya Pradesh

(Bhopal) and Haryana (Kurukshetra) with a total outlay of Rs. 434 crore.

Railways win Senior National Men‟s Hockey Title by defeating Punjab o The Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) won the 9th Hockey India Senior Men National

Championship 2019 (A Div), defeating Punjab by 3-2 at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

Union Home Minister launched ITSSO and Safe City Implementation Monitoring Portal for women safety

o Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi launched a range of citizen safety initiatives in New Delhi.

o It includes the Emergency Response Support System, ERSS, for women safety in 16 states and Union territories.

o The states include Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir. The service has already been launched in Himachal Pradesh and Nagaland.

o Persons in distress can dial a pan-India number: 112. o Under this system, all the states have to set up a dedicated Emergency Response Centre, ERC. o The ERCs are connected to District Command Centres and the Emergency Response Vehicles, and

assistance to victims is facilitated through them. o The Home Minister also launched two portals - Investigation Tracking System for Sexual Offences

and Safe City Implementation Monitoring Portal.

Buddhist Tourism Circuit o Union Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned five new projects under the Buddhist Circuit. o The five states where the project under Buddhist Circuit has been sanctioned are Madhya Pradesh,

Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh. o The Buddhist Circuit is one among the fifteen thematic circuits identified for development under

Madhya Pradesh launched employment scheme “Yuva Swabhiman Yojana” for urban youth

o On January 26,2019, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath launched ‘Yuva Swabhiman

Yojana’ for youths of the weak section in urban areas of Madhya Pradesh. About the scheme:

o The scheme was launched in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh

It aims to provide employment to the youth belonging to the weaker section of the

society mainly in urban areas of the state.

Under this scheme, 100 days of employment will be provided.

Registration of interested urban poor youth under this scheme started on February

10,2019.

Apart from this 100 days employment, they will also be given skill training by the

government.

Each youth enrolled under the scheme will get total Rs 13,500 for the 100 days period.

Only those youths, whose family’s annual income is less than Rs 2 lakh and who are in the

age group of 21-30 years, are eligible for the scheme.

Madhya Pradesh government to create an Adhyatmik Vibhag (Spiritual Department)

o The Congress-led Madhya Pradesh Government announced that it is going to create an

Adhyatmik Vibhag (spiritual department) by merging several existing department. The Congress

had promised to form such a department before the last month’s Assembly elections.

o The proposed Adhyatmik Vibhag (Spiritual Department) going to be formed by merging Dharmik

Nyas Evam Dharmasv Department (Religious Trust and Endowment Department), Anand Vibhag

(Happiness Department) in addition to the Directorate of Religious Trust and Endowment,

Madhya Pradesh Teerth Evam Mela Pradhikaran and Rajya Anand Sansthan. Madhya Pradesh had

become the first state in the country to create Happiness Department.

Purchase of new vehicles, ACs banned for government departments: Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath

o Chief Minister of the Congress led government of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath, banned the

purchase of new vehicles and air conditioners (ACs) by the government departments due to huge

debt of the state.

o Also, the expenditure incurred on office items has been limited on the basis of the difference

between the allocated budget for these expenses in the financial year 2018-19 and the

expenditure incurred in the financial year 2017-18.

o According to a report of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) tabled in the Vidhan

Sabha in March 2018, Madhya Pradesh is struggling with a huge debt of nearly Rs 1.83 crore.

MP CM launches Rs 50,000 cr farm loan waiver scheme „Jai Kisan Rin Mukti Yojana'

o On 15th January 2019, “Jai Kisan Rin Mukti Yojana” scheme was launched by Madhya Pradesh

Chief Minister Shri Kamal Nath.

o It is Rs 50,000 crore farm loan waiver scheme for farmers. The loan waiver forms could be

submitted till February 5 and farmers would start getting the benefits from February 22.

o On 5th January 2019, the state cabinet decided to waive crop loans of 55 lakh small and marginal

farmers in the state. The eligibility cut-off date has been extended to December 12, 2018 from

March 31, 2018.

Govt launches "Green-Ag", GEF-assisted project o The Government of India launched a GEF assisted project, namely Green– Ag: Transforming

Indian agriculture for global environment benefits and the conservation of critical biodiversity

and forest landscapes in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

o It was launched in high-conservation-value landscapes of five states, namely Madhya Pradesh

(Chambal landscape), Mizoram (Dampa landscape), Odisha (Similipal landscape), Rajasthan

Andhra, Himachal and Madhya Pradesh best performing states under Maternity Benefit Programme PMMVY: MoSWCD On December 21, 2018, Minister of State for the Women and Child Development Virendra Kumar released the performance of states and UTs under the maternity benefit programme named Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.

1. Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh topped the charts as the best performing states.

2. According to the finding, 51.70 lakh beneficiaries are covered annually under the PMMVY. 3. Grants-in-aid amounting to Rs 2,048.59 crores and Rs 369.31 crores have been sanctioned to the

states and the Union Territories during the year 2017-18 and 2018-19 respectively.

Centre included Gangotri, Yamunotri in Uttarakhand, Amarkantak in MP and Parasnath in Jharkhand under PRASAD Scheme: Tourism Ministry On December 4, 2018, the central government announced inclusion of Gangotri and Yamunotri in Uttrarakhand, Amarkantak in Madhya Pradesh and Parasnath in Jharkhand under the scheme Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASAD). With this, the number of pilgrimage sites under the scheme increased to 41 sites in 25 states. PRASAD scheme:

1. It was launched by the Tourism Ministry in 2014-15. 2. The scheme aimed at the following:

a. Infrastructure development (road, rail and water transport), b. last mile connectivity, c. basic tourism facilities like Information/ Interpretation Centers, ATM/ money

exchange,\eco-friendly modes of transport among others. 3. A total 24 projects in 15 states have been approved with estimated expenditure of Rs 727.16crore

and a total amount of Rs 331.15 crore has been released for these projects under the scheme since its inception till date.

Madhya Pradesh: Kuno notified as national park; Gir lions from Gujarat to be translocated On December 24, 2018, Kuno, in Madhya Pradesh, was announced to be notified as ‘National Park’.

1. This move was made after the compliance with the last condition imposed by a Supreme Court was met.

2. This would enable translocation of lions from Gir in Gujarat to Kuno.

The heart of India- Madhya Pradesh was the host destination of 3-day - 1st Adventure Next India 2018 On December 5, 2018, the 3-day Adventure Next 2018 event, concluded in the host destination of Madhya Pradesh– the heart of India.
