Final Project for French Revolution Unit

Due Date: April 14th

The purpose of this project is to give you an opportunity to show me what you have learned so far in this unit. You should also use your ability to critically analyze events that unfolded during the French Revolution. This can be done individually or in pairs.

Format: Please choose a way to showcase your understanding of what happened in the French Revolution.

1) Posters – one poster per event2) Essay – 250-350 words per event (can include some newspaper articles)3) Skits – 1 - 1 ½ minute skit per event

You should engage with 4 distinct events, which occurred at 4 different stages of the French Revolution. You should be engaging with certain parts of the revolution and critically analyzing what is happening. Below are the stages and some possible guiding questions. Feel free to choose topics or answer questions you feel to be the most relevant.

YOU SHOULD BE BACKING UP YOUR CLAIMS WITH EVIDENCE. While your opinion is important, you need to have historical evidence that backs up your point of view or arguments.

1) Before the revolution. Talk about reasons why things are getting so bad in France. What are the causes and effects of the situations you chose? Explain

2) The first stages of the Revolution. What is happening? Who are the main characters? What are the causes and effects? Why?

3) When the Revolution is at its peak. What events are the most important in your opinion? Why? Who is to be blamed? Who helps the situation? What worsens the situation?

4) Final stages of the Revolution. What has happened? What are the benefits of the revolution? What are the losses? Are things better?

Whichever format you choose there should be a summing up of events, highlighting which events you thought the most important, as well as why it were of such value. This can be short paragraphs of formal writing, if you choose to do a poster or skit as you will have spent time working on other aspects of your project.).

There should also be a short conclusion (150 words), where you critically analyze if everything that took place was worth the price that was paid.
