I had no idea how that made any sense back then. I do know this now though – the last thirty-six years have flown by very quickly. Why thirty-six? This is my thirty-sixth and last year with Pacelli Catholic Schools. As some of you may know, I will be retiring at the end of this school year. I am not thinking much about it at this point because I still love my job immensely and I want to enjoy every minute of it. I have been blessed to work with people of all ages on a daily basis (they are mostly younger than me now). From watching others walk through life’s important milestones like graduations, marriages, births, and retirement to listening to a kindergartener animatedly telling an outlandish story and wondering how much of it is actually true; from eating lunch with four students only to find out that I was each of their mothers’ principal to dying my hair neon colors and sleeping on the school roof because the students shattered their reading goal, who else can say they have a job this cool? I have been very fortunate indeed. I think back to the Old Testament and how many times the Israelites really didn’t understand what they experienced until time had passed, and they were able to look back and see the spirit of God working through them. In my job, I haven’t had to wait that long. I am able to see God’s hand in our students every day as they learn and grow. Just like those in the Old Testament, I can take a long look back and see that over these thirty-six years, God has been strongly present in our students and staff. I am lucky enough to see the long-term outcome of our students, watching them graduate and be successful, and then getting to watch their children graduate and be successful as well. I figure I’d better retire now before I start seeing some of my former students’ grandkids in the halls at school! It is clear to me that Pacelli Catholic Schools, through the work of our tremendously dedicated faculty and staff, are doing a wonderful job helping families raise strong, intelligent people of faith. A thousand years are as a day? It makes more sense now. The only time we are really blessed with is today, this moment, where we are right now. We can’t change the pace of life, or the speed at which it passes, but we can embrace what God has given us. I plan on doing that during these last few months with PCS. I wish you and your loved ones a blessed Christmas and a thousand more wonderful New Years to come. May God continue to bless you and your family.. Pacelli Catholic Schools is a community blessed with an abundant number of wonderful families proudly carrying on the tradition of Catholic education. MARIA CLASS OF 1954The Maria class of 1954 met for lunch at Park Ridge Cafe on October 4, 2019. They are planning another gathering on October 2, 2020, 1pm at the Park Ridge Cafe. Please contact Darlene (King) Rogoski with any questions (715) 344-4267.

PACELLI-MARIA CLASS OF 1969The 1969 classes of Maria and Pacelli High Schools celebrated their 50th class reunion on August 8-9 at the Sky Club in Plover. There were 79 graduates and three educators in attendance. The Friday evening event was preceded by a Thursday and Friday filled with a variety of group activities; golf, a walk around Lake Joanis, a bowl painting experience at the Clay Corner Studio with the bowls to be donated to the Empty Bowls of Portage County Project to be held at SPASH on October 19, 2019, a tour of Pacelli High School and the Sisters of St Joseph Convent followed by a Mass. The classmates gathered at Graffiti’s on Thursday evening to get to know one another again.

“Ch ch ch ch changes”! The Friday evening was spent socializing, dining and dancing to the music of Grey Catz and Circus. The reunion was emceed by Mike Okray. The reunion committee included Marie (Searl) Ostrowski, Jane (Osowski) McKnight, Pat (Mathes) Toney, Marilyn (Helminiak) Helm, Mike Disher and Mike Okray. The Class of ’69 would like to thank the management & staff of the Sky Club, Graffiti’s Sports Pub, DigiCopy, The Pineries Bank, Two Harps, Sister Carlene Blavat and Pacelli Principal Larry Theiss for their assistance in making this celebration a success. Our class was gracious in contributing to Pacelli High School’s Golden Reunion Scholarship and the remaining balance of our checking account was donated to Evergreen Community Initiatives.

PACELLI CLASS OF 1979The class of '79 enjoyed a casual get together in September at North Point Pub. Although the numbers were low, conversations and smiles were high! Plans are

already in the works for the 45th reunion. Mark your calendars for the summer of 2024. Stay connected with us on Facebook at Pacelli Class of 1979 Community.

PACELLI-MARIA CLASS OF 1964The 55th reunion celebration began on Wednesday, August 7, as a drop in get together at Graffiti's downtown Stevens Point. The scheduled casual reunion was on August 8, at PJ’s Restaurant in SentryWorld. There were more than 70 attendees and everyone had so much fun talking, reminiscing and being grateful for being together again, that no one thought to take a group picture. Time seemed to fly by because we had to be told they were closing. Just take our word for it— we all looked terrific and ageless! It was so special to see everyone there. If you couldn’t attend, you missed a super time.

Instead of waiting for our 60th reunion, we are planning some informal lunch dates for the summers in between. Watch your emails for further notice. Send your email changes and any lunch ideas to Carol at [email protected] or Marge at [email protected]. Hope you can join us!

PACELLI CLASS OF 1974Pacelli High School class of 1974 celebrated their 45th reunion on August 23rd.

We had a great time catching up and reminiscing at Emy J’s and Bullheads.
