Introduction

BAT 5 (Battery of 5 assessments) is a scientific approach to help understand the self and others like never before. It is comprehensive in its methodology to look at an individual from inside-out. It is based on extensive research of hereditary and environmental influences on your life right from the very beginning. The BAT 5 helps us in understanding the various influences in an individual’s life, be it due to nature (genes) or nurture (upbringing). Each of these factors influences the individual differently. Thus there may be a contradiction or alignment or various permutation and combinations in the course of one’s life. Thus when 5 assessments are used, which throw light on these various facets, one gets a holistic picture of the dynamic behaviour of the person. Psychometric analysis mirrors an individual’s personality helping identify and gain awareness into his/her strengths and competency. These key factors interact over the years resulting in development of certain competency that enables performance. BAT 5 as the name suggests is a Battery of 5 insightful psychometric assessments developed based on the extensive research of widely known scientists like Carl Gustav Jung, William Marston, Eric Berne, B F Skinner, Douglas McGregor, Lev Vygotsky, Erik Erikson, Sigmund Freud, Alfred Adler, Howard Gardner and many more. Thus Battery of assessments presents a holistic view of your true capabilities to get the best out. 1. F. I. T. S. It is an effective tool that helps identify various patterns and styles that one assumes both at work and on the personal front within a single day or frequently over a period in similar situations or with certain people. It also throws clarity on how different or similar are the work styles of the individual, thereby demonstrating either his/her ability to flex or to maintain consistency. This increased self-awareness of behaviour patterns facilitates a process of self exploration. 5. People Performance Competency 20

Communication Pattern Analysis

Communication Pattern Analysis identifies an individual’s communication habit throwing light on the various styles and means he/she uses while interacting. The individual is assessed on 4 communication patterns namely, Critical, Advising, Empathic and Searching. Such an insight builds self awareness regarding the multiple facets and dynamics of communication.

Personality Trait

Advising

Criticizing

Empathizing Searching

Scores 12 14 9 10

Advising being your one of your dominant communication style, in a hurry to serve advice, you may not listen to the other person. When others come to you with ideas, thoughts, challenges etc you feel obliged to convey or impose your thoughts on the same. This may cause others to perceive you as overbearing and self righteous. With the need to control conversation, you may not allow people to speak completely. However, this could be because of your profession as a coach; however, giving options and allowing the person to choose among them would be ideal.

You tend to ask for additional information to get to the root of the problem, however may not probe enough. Searching response not only helps the other person to ventilate his/ her feelings, but also helps you to understand the other person’s problem more clearly. Hence having the natural ability to probe and draw feelings from others need to be utilised.

Though you are gifted with the ability to understand the emotions and feelings, environment has not given enough opportunity for the development of the same. You tend to be reasonable in empathy dimension; usually attempting to understand the other person’s viewpoint, feelings and stands. But may have challenge in conveying your feelings of understanding during interactions.

You tend to be rather critical, mostly operating on preconceived notions. This may cloud your judgment and may lead you to jump to false or premature conclusions. This could be because at that point in time you have too many things on your mind, or you have a bias against that person or behaviour. By being critical people may avoid approaching you or clam up their feeling for fear of being judged. Thus may actually cancel out the positive impact you have created by using empathy.
