Introduction 前言Education holds the key to build a better future. Since 1995 Gammon has rendered support to universities in nurturing young talents, by sponsoring research, establishing scholarships and providing internship placements to undergraduates from several universities in the mainland China, examples are Tsinghua University (Beijing) and Tongji University (Shanghai).

教育是建設未來的重要基石。自1995年，金門於數間大學例如北京的清華大學及上海的同濟大學資助學術研究、設立獎學金及提供短期實習交流，支持學校培養人才。

We would like to express our whole-hearted congratulations to this year’s scholarship recipients from the School of Civil Engineering. Your dedication and relentless efforts in academic achievement shall definitely deserve a sense of pride.

The scholarship was established to encourage breaking the limits and creating possibilities. We believe, by empowering the next generation in the construction industry, we are building up the future leaders who will make a real difference to our society. Along this journey, we are glad to work closely with the Tsinghua University to realise our vision.

Over the 22 years, we have joined hands to improve safety, which remains as the first priority in the constantly evolving industry. We continue to reinforce our Zero Harm culture, by educating the conventional minds, initiating effective strategies to eliminate the traditional unsafe practices, and implementing visible leadership at all levels.

Gammon and Tsinghua have also spent concerted efforts to uphold innovation, which serves the transforming power to drive the industry’s development. Thanks to the commitment of Tsinghua, Innovation Competition in Construction Engineering and Management has been held for 11 years. This Competition encourages students to make an integrated use of multi-disciplinary knowledge so as to address issues related to the field of construction engineering and management.

In Gammon, we strive to adopt advanced technologies to improve efficiencies and productivity of construction. Design for Manufacture and Assembly, Building Information Modelling, photogrammetry, laser scanning, robotics and virtual reality gaming technology are examples of our innovation drive. And we are pressing forward to achieve more!

I wish all scholarship recipients success in their studies and a bright future. Again, may I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all of you.

The Gammon Scholarship Presentation Ceremony is an annual important event where we acknowledge some of our most outstanding students in School of Civil Engineering. Thanks for the generous support of Gammon over the years, it has not only sponsored our scholarship, but also given us support in the establishment of the Tsinghua-Gammon Construction Safety Research Centre which allows us to conduct research in technical, management, and cultural aspects to improve safety awareness of construction workers.

In recent years, Gammon has also supported the launch of the Construction Engineering and Management Innovation Competition which seeks out to encourage and uncover innovative ideas from our students. All these underscore Gammon’s reputation as a company with vision as well as its commitment to corporate social responsibility.

Sharing common values and vision, Tsinghua cherishes the friendship with Gammon and also our understanding gained through years of collaboration.
