Shortly after moving to Heumaden, Germany and beginningto write for This Dark Matter , I was struck by the ringing ofbells from the church just down the street from our house.They were beautiful and incredibly 'normal' sounding. That'swhen it hit me that so much in the horror genre is a skew ofwhat's normal because the abnormal is so damn sketchy.The child's cry that just doesn't sound write. The ringing of a

telephone that is in the wrong pitch. And, potentially, churchbells that just won't stop ringing.

Where I plead for reviews: One thing I’ve learned in myvery short writing career is that I can only do so much bymyself. Writing is a collaborative effort, from my partnertelling me she now can’t hear the church bells without beinga little weirded out to you, the reader. If you have the time or
