• An alligator mother may help her young reach the water by carrying them in her mouth.

• Badgers are incredible diggers. They have been known to dig through asphalt or even concrete.

• Jack Rabbits eat clover, grass and twigs.

• Jack Rabbits weigh 1 to 4 pounds and are 15 to 19 inches long.

• Jack Rabbits can be hard to catch. They can leap about 15 feet (4.5 meters), and their zigzagging hops make them hard to follow.

• When not in use each claw on a lion withdraws into a sheath in the paw. That helps the claws to stay sharp.

• The wolf has excellent senses of vision, smell and hearing. A wolf can see and smell a deer more than 1 mile or 1.6 kilometers away.

• The students chose their own animals and wrote down notes about them from World Book Online, Kids’ Edition.

• They typed their information into PowerPoint slides and chose a background color.

• They added a picture from Microsoft Clip Art, or used Google to find a picture on the Internet.

• Finally, they did a spell check and a reading check with Ms. Ewing, and she added their slide to the class’s virtual zoo.
