• Texans barricade an old missionary, the Alamo, as Santa Anna and the Mexican army attempt to enter..

• The unarmed Americans were able to hold off the Mexican army for 12 days!– Eventually Santa Anna and his army break through and

– Although this is a Mexican victory, this buys Americans much needed time!

– The Alamo becomes a symbol of American heroism!• A Moral Victory!

– Texas is annexed by the United States – Dec 29, 1845.
