For the month of March, we are focusing on making mistakes or setbacks into learning opportunities for all members within the learning community. Setbacks are part of life and it is important to edu-cate our youth on how to reflect and resolve such problems. This allows the child to develop GRIT and handle life’s tough challenges. Here are some ways to support us in this effort. 1. Normalize mistakes. Develop opportunities to fix mistakes by explain-ing that they are routine and expected, not embarrassing and uncommon. 2. Value mistakes as a learning opportunity. This is part of normalizing mistakes. It is important to take these opportunities and reflect to see what can be learned from it. Youth needs a lot of guidance and support in this process. It is important to develop an open line of communication so they can turn to you for challenging moments in life. The work is coming from The Growth mindset Coach by Annie Brock and Heather Hundley. This is the book we read on a monthly basis with staff.

Para el mes de marzo, nos centramos en cometer errores o retrocesos en oportunidades de aprendizaje para to-dos los miembros dentro de la comuni-dad de aprendizaje. Los reveses son parte de la vida y es importante educar a nuestros jóvenes sobre como reflejar y resolver dichos problemas. Esto le per-mite al niño a desarrollar GRIT y mane-jar los difíciles desafíos de la vida. Aquí hay algunas maneras de apoyarnos en este esfuerzo. 1. Normalizar los errores. Desarrollar oportunidades para corregir errores explicando que son rutinarios y esperados no embarazosos y poco comunes. 2. Valorar los errores como una oportunidad de aprendizaje. Esto es parte de la normalización de errores. Es importante aprovechar estas oportunida-des y reflexionar para ver que se puede aprender de ellas. La juventud necesita mucha orientación y apoyo en este pro-ceso. Es importante desarrollar una línea de comunicación abierta para que puedan recurrir a usted en los momentos difíciles de la vida. Este año organizaremos nuestro quinto taller anual de GLAM. Este evento les brinda a nuestras jóvenes estudiantes la oportunidad de conocer mujeres lideres en su comunidad que presentaran temas de su elección para ayudar a las niñas a abogar por su futuro. Las presentadoras provienen de una variedad de antece-dentes y aportan una gran cantidad de experiencias de vida. Son jueces, aboga-das, organizadoras comunitarias, asis-tentes de vuelo, etc. Si quiere estar en-tre las participantes para ayudar a crear la oportunidad de escuchar a estas muje-res increíbles obtenga una solicitud de la oficina de Magnolia y entréguela lo antes posible; el ultimo dia para inscribirse es MARTES, 6 de marzo.

9am to 11:30am This year we will be hosting our 5th annual GLAM workshop. This event gives our young female students an opportunity to meet female leaders in their community that will present on topics of their choice to help girls advocate for their future. The presenters come from a variety of back-grounds an bring a wealth of life experienc-es. They are judges, lawyers, community organizers, flight attendants, etc. If you would to be among the participants to help create an opportunity to hear from these amazing women pick up an application from the Magnolia office and turn it in as soon as possible the deadline to register is TUESDAY, MARCH 6th.

Congratulations Wolves! I am happy to announce that we sur-

passed our goal of $2,018 and collected…

4,237 pennies, 1,068 nickels, 1,083 dimes, 768 quarters, 11 half dollars and 1,686 dollars!

For a grand total of…..$2,118.07!!!

This year our Students Run LA team was blessed to

have 15 spots for this season. I am proud to say that all

15 of our student runners have completed the grueling

training needed to prepare them for the marathon. They

have participated in various runs and practic-

es, including 2 half-marathons, 2 18-mile

runs, and 1 20-mile run. They will be run-

ning the Sketchers Performance Los Ange-

les Marathon on Sunday, March 18th. Thank

you to all the parents and coaches who

have helped us by donate snacks and their

time so that our student runners can be

ready.

Este ano nuestro equipo de Students Run LA logro obte-

ner 15 espacios por esta temporada. Estoy orgullosa en

decir que todos nuestros 15 estudiantes han completado

el entrenamiento riguroso que se necesita para que es-

tén preparados para el maratón. Ellos han partici-

pado en varias carreras y prácticas, incluyendo 2

medio-maratones, 2 carreras de 18 millas y una

de 20 millas. Ellos correrán el maratón de Sket-

chers Performance Los Ángeles el 18 de marzo.

Gracias a todos los padres y entrenadores por

donar meriendas y por ayudarnos con su tiempo

para que nuestros estudiantes puedan estar lis-

tos.

My 7th grade students are working tire-

lessly this month to complete a project in history class that will trans-

form the classroom into a museum! After analyzing multiple primary

and secondary sources, students will spend the next two weeks creat-

ing an artifact to be put on display that represents their answer to the

question, "Were the Middle Ages (500-1750 CE) the Dark Ages or a

Golden Era?" The final due date of this project is Wednesday March

21, 2018. Parents, please be aware that students will be required to

create a physical object and therefore may ask for supplies to be pur-

chased. I encourage all parents to ask your students about their pro-

jects, as I'm sure the discussion will give each a chance to brag about

the amazing work they are doing in history class this year. If you have

any questions, comments, or concerns about the material cost or any

other element of this project please email me or stop by D113 and I

will be happy to meet with you

Mis estudiantes de séptimo grado están trabajando incansable-

mente este mes para completar un proyecto en la clase de historia

que transformara el aula en un museo! Después de analizar múlti-

ples fuentes primarias y secundarias, los estudiantes pasaran las

próximas dos semanas creando un artefacto para mostrar que re-

presenta su respuesta a la pregunta, "Eran la Edad Media (500-1750

CE) la Edad Oscura o una Era Dorada?" La fecha final de vencimien-

to de este proyecto es el miércoles 21 de marzo de 2018. Padres,

tengan en cuenta que los estudiantes deberán crear un objeto físi-

co y por lo tanto, pueden solicitar que se compren los suministros.

Animo a todos los padres a que pregunten a sus hijos sobre sus

proyectos ya que estoy seguro de que la discusión dará a cada uno

la oportunidad de presumir sobre el increíble trabajo que están

haciendo en la clase de historia este año. Si tiene alguna pregunta,

We need donations for the Parent Task Force snack sales. Please drop off any donations to the Magnolia office and

receive +2 Coolsis pts. We are always in need of Nacho chips, Can of Nacho

cheese, Gatorade, Capri Suns, and Vol-unteers to help with sales. All the pro-

ceeds benefit our students. Snack sales take place on Wednesdays from 1:45

to 3pm unless there is a Friday event. If you cannot donate items, please donate your time. Our

next PTF meeting will take place March 6th @ 5:30pm in the cafeteria free dress passes and Coolsis pts. will be provided. We hope to see you there.

Este fin de semana 3 y 4 de marzo, MSA Bell organizara su Segundo Torneo Anual de baloncesto para nuestras Lady Wolves. Por favor ase-gúrese de salir y mostrar su apoyo. Nuestras chicas competirán contra algunos equipos locales del área de Los Ángeles por la oportunidad de

mantener nuestro trofeo en casa. Buena suerte este fin de semana Lady Wolves! Nuestro Departamento de deportes también desea dar

un reconocimiento especial y agradecer a todos los padres, maestros, personal de ARC y estudiantes-atletas que hicieron de este evento de fin de semana pasado un éxito. El equipo de los lobos lograron mante-ner el trofeo de Subcampeón aquí en nuestra escuela después de jugar

la ronda de Campeonato contra Crozier. Gran Trabajo Wolves!

This weekend March 3rd and 4th, MSA Bell will be hosting its 2nd Annual

MSA-Bell Basketball Tournament for our Lady Wolves. Please make sure you come out and show your support. Our girls will be competing

against some local teams from the LA area for a chance to keep our trophy at home. Good luck this weekend Lady Wolves!!

Our Athletic Department would also like to give a special shout out and thank you to all the parents, teachers, ARC staff, and student-athletes

who made this past weekend’s event a success. Our boy’s managed to keep the Runner-Up trophy here on campus after playing the champi-

onship round v. Crozier. Great Job Wolves!
