Expanding the Chillgard line ofrefrigerant monitors, MSA now offersthe new Chillgard L Series MonitoringSystems. These new products offer awide range of choices and benefits andfeature the utmost in detection andconfiguration flexibility. All units havebeen tested by Underwriters Laboratoryto the applicable standard.

The ProductsChillgard LS Refrigerant MonitorThe Chillgard LS Refrigerant Monitoruses MSA's market-leading photoa-coustic infrared technology to senserefrigerant gases. The LS Monitor is avail-able in either single-point diffusion (nopump needed) or 4-point pumped ver-sions for remote sampling. The monitorcan work either as a stand-alone unit orin conjunction with the Chillgard LCControl Module.

For more information on the Chillgard LSRefrigerant Monitor, see Data Sheet#07-2042.

Chillgard LC Control ModuleThe MSA Chillgard LC Control Modulecan communicate with up to eight sam-ple points from Chillgard LS RefrigerantMonitors over an RS-485 communicationline. The Chillgard LC Control Module canremotely display gas concentration, alarm status, calibration and fault diag-nostics for the LS Monitors.

Features for the Chillgard LC ControlModule are provided at the end of thisdata sheet.

Chillgard LE Refrigerant MonitorThe Chillgard LE Monitor also uses pho-toacoustic infrared sensing technologyto sense refrigerant gases. The ChillgardLE Monitor is available in single-pointdiffusion, single-point pumped and 4-point pumped versions. The LE Monitorcontains the sensor and the controlmodule in one enclosure.

For more information on the Chillgard LERefrigerant Monitor, see Data Sheet#07-0008.

The ApplicationsRefrigerant monitoring needs vary basedupon chiller size, # of chillers, # of refrig-erant gases to be detected, power avail-ability, need for entry way signaling andbudget. The L Series RefrigerantMonitoring Systems allow you to choosethe right solution to meet your needs.

Typical ChillerConfigurations and the L Series SolutionsFigures 1-4 illustrate four possible config-urations for the Chillgard L SeriesSystems. Other configurations are possi-ble. Contact your trained MSA salesassociate for help in configuring the sys-tem of monitors and controllers to meetyour needs.

Powering the L SeriesSystemsThe L Series Systems provide the maxi-mum flexibility available for powering. Each system can be configured throughMSA's assemble to order process to meetyour power requirements. The ChillgardLS and LE Monitors can be configured toaccept either 24 V AC/DC or 110/220 VACpower. The Table below summarizes thepossible powering configurations for theChillgard LC Control Module.
