To prevent stretching or distorting of images; to contrain an image’s width and height it is recommended to use the options:

Predefined width x height or Percentage of original width x height.

Once a preferred percentage of an image is found and if there are additional photos to size, the option Custom width x height can be selected. If using the custom option ensure all images are of the same landscape (wide vs. tall photos). Note in the example above the section Size setting summary (400 x 267) You may want to choose a predefined or percentage option. In the below example I choose the custom option.

Example: I already found a percentage I liked and click OK which gave me the Size Setting Summary of a width of 123x82. For the rest of my wide photos I choose the option Custom width x height and entered 123x82. Make note of the Size Setting Summary section

To Optimize Photos for the Web Optimizing photos for the web makes the image a smaller file size which enables them to appear quicker on a web page. Large file sizes can freeze a users webpage.

And save it to the location with the name you deisre.

Batch operations Compress or Resize:

Place the images you want to resize into a single folder. Right click on one of the images and select "Open With.../Microsoft Office Picture Manager." Just below the menu bar and tool bar, there is a "Thumbnail View" icon. Click it, and it will display small versions of all of the images in the folder. Select all the images to resize as a group by holding down the control key and typing a letter "A" on your keyboard. If you decide to resize only certain images in the folder, you can select multiple images individually by holding down the control key and clicking on each image.

Once the images are selected, right-click on one of the thumbnail images and select "Edit Pictures..." Alternatively, click the "Edit Pictures..." button on the tool bar (if it is visible). Either method will open the task pane on the right-hand side of the window.

On the task pane, click "Compress" or “Resize” under "Edit Pictures/Change

Rename

Once the images are selected, click Edit – Rename and the “Rename” options will be displayed in the side taskbar.
