Advanced StandingThe University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work offers an Advanced Standing program for applicants who have their Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW), in which they earn their Masters of Social Work in 3 semesters (full time) or 5 semesters (par time). Eligible students are awarded up to 24 credits from their BSW program, and complete 36 credit hours in our accelerated program to earn their Masters of Social Work. Students who are accepted into our Advanced Standing program will begin their advanced Field Practicum in their first semester. It is expected that these students are comfortable and familiar with foundational social work principles and practices, as will be required to apply these skills in their placement. Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for Advanced Standing:• BSW from a CSWE-accredited program in the last 5 years• Minimum of 3.0 GPA overall and on the last 60 credits• **Applicants with a “C” in any practice coursework (also called methods or interventions)

are NOT eligible for Advanced Standing Additional Information• Must complete program within 2 years of initial registration• Must apply to the Baltimore campus for 2015-2016 academic year• December graduates are eligible for spring or fall semesters• May graduates are ONLY eligible for fall semester• Must have recommendation form filled out by BSW Chair• One of 3 required references must be from your field instructor• Must submit a case plan in addition to the 3 personal statement questions
