Alyesha Technicians 'hain withthe Best to Prepare for the WorstAlyeskapipelinetechniciansandcontractorsrecentlycompletedAircraftRescueFireFighter(ARFF)trainingatGalbraith,Prospect Creek and Five Mile Airports recently. The program, designed by Joe I,ieto, Aviation Operations Specialist inCorporateSecurityandAviation,andJo8eFlores,CorporateFireandSafetyF`ireProtectionSpecialist,wasconductedbytwo professional ARFF trainers on contl.act from the US Air Force.

Flores said the training goes hand-in -hand with the mission of fire response training at the pump stations as the firstresponse in protecting human life and combating fire in its incipient stages.TheARRF`-trainedtechniciansgoingoffshiftwillbeonstandbywiththefireresponseequipmentatthea.irfieldl5minutes

priortoandafterlandingofthecrewchangeplan.Thecrewwillthentraderoleswithitscounterpartcomingon-shiftwhowill then be on standby 15 minutes before and after takeoff. Lieto said the mission of the fire response team members wassimple: to create a rescue path for passengers in the event of an emel-gency involving a crew change plane.

Flores and Lieto both noted that the training was eagerly-received by the technicians who gave the course high marksduring post-training evaluation of the course.

Spill containment and recovery, lighteringoperations, employment of aerial dispersants, search and rescue of persormel andresponse to an ship-board explosion were all tested. Simulated media coverage,including direct interviews, added to the realism of the exercise.
