Kalimah

Kal-mah tayyibah (the Kalimah of purity)

La e-laa-ha il-laa-hu Mu-ham-ma-dur ra-soo-lul-laahThere is none worthy of worship besides Allah; and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.

Kalimah shahaadah (the Kalimah of testimony)

Ash-ha-du al-laa e-laa-ha il-lal-laa-hu wa ash-ha-du anna Mu-ham-mad-an ab-du-hoo wa ra-soo-lu-huI bear witness that there is no one worthy of worship besides Allah; and I bear witness that Muhammad is his servant and messenger.

Kalimah Tamjeed (the Kalimah of glorification)

Sub-haa-nal-laa-hi wal ham-du-lil-laa hi wa-laa e-laa-ha il-lal-laa-hu wal-laa-hu ak-bar wa-laa haw-laa wa-laa quwwa-ta il-laa bil-laa-hil a-liy-yil a-zheemGlory be to Allah and praise be to Allah. There is none worthy of worship besides Allah. And Allah is the Greatest. There is no power and might except from Allah, The Most High, The Great.

Kalimah tawheed (the Kalimah of unity)

Laa e-laa-ha il-lal-laa-hu wah-da-hoo laa sha-ree-ka la-hoo la-hul mul-ku wa la-hul ham-du yuh-yee wa-yu-mee-tu bi-ya-di-hil khai ru wa-hu-wa ‘a-laa kul-li shay-in qa-deer.There is none worthy of worship besides allah. He is One. He has no partner. He is the kingdom and for him is all praise. He gives life and causes death. In his hand is all good. And he has power over everything.

Kalimah radde kufr (the Kalimah of rejecting disbelief)

Al-laa-hum-ma in-nee a-oo-thu bi-kamin an ush-ri-ka bi-ka shay-an wa a-na a-la-mu bi-hee wa as-tagh-fi-ru-ka li-maa laa a la-mu bi-hee; tub-tu an-hu wa ta-bar-ra tu mi-nal kuf-ri wash-shir-ki wal ma-aa-see kul-li-haa wa-as-lam-tu wa aa-man-tu wa wa-a-qoo-lu laa i-laa-ha il-lal-laa-hu-Mu-ham-ma-dur ra-soo-lul-laah.O Allah, I seek protection in you from that I should join any partner with you knowingly. I seek Your forgiveness from that which I do not know. I repent from ignorance I free myself from disbelief and from joining partner with you and I free myself from all sins.

I submit to your will. I belief and I declare: There is none worthy of worship besides Allah and Hadhrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the messenger of Allah

Imaane Mujmal (Articles of faith in brief)

Aa-man-tu-bil-laa-hi ka-maa hu-wa bi-as-maa-i-hee wa si-faa-ti-hee wa qa bil-tu ja-mee-‘aah-kaa-mi-heeI believe in Allah as he is understood by his names and his attributes and I accept all his orders.

Imaane Mufassal (Articles of faith in detail)

Aa-man-tu-bil-laa-hi wa ma-laa-i-ka-ti-hee wa ku-tu-bi-hee war u-su-li-hee wal yau-mil aa-khi-ri wal qad-ri khai-ri-hee wa shar-ri-hee mi-nal-laa-hi ta-‘aa-laa wal ba-thi ba’-dal mautI believe in Allah his angels and his books and his messengers and the last day, and in Taqdeer – the good thereof anf the bad thereof – which is from Allah, The Most High; and I believe in the raising after death. (Taqdeer: predestination; measurement of things)

Tab-bat ya-daaa a-bee la-ha-biw-wa-tabPerished be the hands of abu lahab and he has already perished

Maaa agh-na ‘an-hu maa lu-hoo wa maa ka-sabHis wealth and what he earned is of no benefit

Sa yas-laa naa-ran tha-ta la-habNow he enters into a blazing fire

Surah Falaq

Min shar-ri maa kha-laqFrom the evil of everything that he has created

Wa min shar-ri ghaa-si-qin e-thaa wa qabAnd from the evil of darkness when it appears

Min shar-ril was-waa-sil khan naasFrom the evil of that who misleads and hides

Tashahhud

At-tahiy-yaa-tu lil-laa-hi was sa-la-waa-tu wat tay-yi-baa-tu. as-sa-laa-mu a-lay-ka ay-yu-han na-biy-yu wa rah-ma-tul-laa-hi wa ba-ra-kaa-tu-hu. as sa-laa-mu a-lay-na wa a’-laa i-ba-dil-laa-his saa-li-heen. ash-ha-du-al laa e-laa-ha il-lal-laa-hu wa ash-ha-du an-na mu-ham-mad-an ab-du-hu wa-ra-soo-lu-hu. All reverence, all worship, all sanctity are for Allah. Peace be upon you O Prophet and the mercy of Allah and his blessings. Peace be upon us and the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that none is worthy of worship besides Allah and Muhammad is his slave and messenger.

Durood Sharif

Allaahumma salli ‘alaa muhammadiw wa ‘alaa aali muhammadin kamaa sallayta ‘alaa ibraaheema wa ‘alaa aali ibraaheema innaka hameedum majeedO Allah shower your mercy on muhammad and the followers of Muhammad as you showered your mercy upon ibrahim and the followers of Ibrahim. Verily you are praiseworthy, glorious.

Allaahumma baarik ‘alaa muhammadiw wa ‘alaa aali muhammadin kamaa baarakta ‘alaa ibraaheema wa ‘alaa aali ibraaheema innaka hameedum majeedO Allah shower your blessings on muhammad and the followers of Muhammad as you showered your blessings upon ibrahim and the followers of Ibrahim. Verily you are praiseworthy, glorious.

Dua after durood

Al-laa-hum-ma in-ni za-lam-tu naf-si zul-man ka-theer-an wa-laa yagh-fi-ruth thu-noo-ba il-laa an-ta fagh-fir-li magh-fi-ra-tam min ‘in-di-ka war-ham-ni in-na-ka an-tal gha-foorur ra-heem.O Allah I have been extremely unjust to myself and none grants forgiveness against sins but you; so forgive me with forgiveness that comes from you, and have mercy upon me. Verily you are the forgiving, the merciful.

Dua e Qoonoot

Al-Laa-Hum-ma in-naa nas-ta 'ee-nu-ka wanastagh-fi-ru-ka wa nu'mi-nu bi-ka wa na-ta-wak-ka-lu'alay-kawa nus-nee 'a-lay kal khair wa nash-ku-ru-ka wa laa nak-fu-ru-ka wa nakhla 'u wa nat-ru-ku may yafju-ruk. Al-laa-humma iy-yaa-kana' bu-du wa-la-ka nau-sal-lee wa nas judu wa i-lay-ka nas-'aa wa nah-fidu wa narjoo rah-ma-ta-ka wa nakh-shaa 'a-zhaa-ba-ka inna 'a-zhaa-ba-ka bil kuf-faa-ri mul hiq.

O Allah! We beg help from You alone; ask forgiveness from You alone, and turn towards You and praise You for all the good things and are grateful to You and are not ungrateful to You and we part and break off with all those who are disobedient to you. O Allah! You alone do we worship and pray exclusively to You and bow before You alone and we hasten eagerly towards You and we fear Your severe punishment and hope for Your Mercy as your severe punishment is surely to be meted out to the unbelievers.

Al-laa-hum-ma man ah-yay-ta-hu min-naa fa-ah-yi-hi ‘a-lal is-laam wa man ta-waf-fay-ta-hoo min-naa fa-ta-waf-fa-hu ‘a-lal emaan.O Allah, forgive our people who are still alive and who have passed away, forgive those who are present here and those who are absent, forgive our young and our elderly,

forgive our males and our females. O Allah, the one whom you wish to keep alive from amongst us make him live according to Islam, and anyone whom you wish to die from amonst us let him die in a state of Iman.

Dua for Boys

Al-laa-hum-ma in-ni a-’oo-tho bi-ka mi-nal khu-bu-thi wal kha-baa-ithO Allah I seek refuge with you from male and female devils.

Leaving toilet

Ghuf raa-nak al-ham-du-lil-laa-hil-la-thee ath-ha-ba ‘an-nil a-thaa wa ‘aa-faa-neePraise be to Allah who relieved me from the suffering and gave me relief.

Entering home

Al-laa-hum-ma in-ni as-a-lu-ka khair-al maw-la-ji wa khair-al makh-ra-ji bis-mil-laa-hi wa-laj-naa wa bis-mil-laa-hi kha-raj-naa wa ‘a-lal-laa-hi rab-bin-naa ta-wak-kal-na.O Allah I beg of you the best of arrivals and the best of departures. We have entered with the name of Allah and with his name we did go out. And in Allah our Lord do we place our trust.

Leaving home

Bis-mil-laa-hi ta-wak-kal-tu ‘a-lal-laa-hi wa laa haw-laa wa laa qow-wa-ta il-laah bil-laahIn the name of Allah, I trust in Allah and there is no might or power except by his will

Hearing adhanYou should repeat what the muazzin (person who reads azan) says except when he

says hay-ya ‘a-las sa-laah and hay-ya ‘a-lal fa-laah you should respond with

laa how-la wa laa qow-wa-ta il-laah bil-laah

After adhaan

Al-laa-hum-ma rab-ba haa-thi-hid da’wa-tit taaam-mah. was salaatil qaaa-e-ma-ti Aa-ti mu-ham-ma-da nil wa-see-lah. Wab-‘ath-hu mu-qaa-mam mah-moo-da nil-la-thee wa’at-taaa-hu in-na-ka laa tukh-li-ful mee-‘aadO Allah, Lord of this perfect call and the salaat to be offered, bestow upon Muhammad al waseelah as well as eminence. Also raise him to the glorious station you have promised him, certainly you keep promises

Dua’ before starting wudhu

Time of breaking fast

Al-laa-hum-ma la-ka sum-tu wa ‘a-laa riz-qi-ka af-tar-tuO Allah for you did I keep the fast, and upon your provision I have broken it.

Looking into mirror

Al-laa-hum-ma an-ta has-san-ta khal-qi fa-has-sin kho-loqiO Allah you have made my physical appearance good make my character good also.

Entering a market place

Bis-mil-laa-hi al-laa-hum-ma in-ni as-a-lu-ka khai-ra haa-thi-his soo-fi wa khai-ra maa fee-haa wa a-‘oo-thu-bi-ka min shar-ri haa wa shar-ri ma fee-ha. Al-laa-hum-ma in-neee a-‘oo-thu-bi-ka an o-see-ba fee-haa ya-mee-nan faa ji-ra-tan aw-saf-qa-tan kha-si-rah.In the name of Allah. O Allah, I ask of you the good of this market and the good of that which is therein and I seek refuge in you lest I should strike a bargain herein incurring loss.

As-sa-laa-mu ‘a-lay-kum wa-rah-mah-tul-laah

Beginning a journey

Sub-haa-nal la-thee sakh-kha-ra-la-na haa-thaa wa maa kun-naa la-hu muq-ri-nee-na wa in-na e-laa rab-bi-naa la-mun-qa-li-boon. Al-laa-hum-ma in-na nas-a-lu-ka fee sa-fa-ri-naa haa-thal bir-ra wa-taq-waa wa mi-nal ‘a-ma-li ma tar-dhaa. Al-laa-hum-ma haw-wi-nu ‘a-lay-na haa-tha sa-fa-ra-naa wat-wi ‘an-na ba’da-hoo. Al-laa-hum-ma an-tas saa-hi-bu fis sa-fa-ri wal kha-lee-fa-tu fil ah-li. Al-laa-hum-ma in-ni a’-oo-tho-bi-ka miw wa’-is sa-fa-ri wa kaa-ba-til man-zha-ri wa so-waaa-il mun-qa-la-bi fil ah-li wal-maalGlory be to Allah who has subjected this vehicle for us, though we were unable to subdue it. Behold we are surely to return to our lord. Oh Allah make easy this journey of ours and roll up for us the distance thereafter. O Allah you are our companion in this journey and guardian in our household. O Allah I seek refuge in you from the toil of this journey from beholding a miserable sight and an ill return in my wealth, household and my children.
