MISSION STATEMENT: Committed to serving the retirees and senior citizens in our community. Our goal is to encourage, educate, assist, and enhance life in retirement. We aim to provide the tools necessary to live a
quality-filled and healthier life as one ages; promoting interaction between generations by exchanging skills, values and experiences.
Hi, my name is Yvonne and I’m a native to Middletown, NY, born in the Sanitarium
Hospital located at 10 Benton Ave. My brother and I grew up when Middletown used to be
a “small town”. I often say my husband and I have come full circle as we both lived on
Watkins Avenue at some time in our childhood and we live there now, buying our home in
1976. Our oldest daughter, Lisa, was born in Johnson, NY. Our youngest daughter, Jenni-
fer and our son, James, were both born here in the original Horton Hospital. All of our chil-
dren followed us in the Middletown School district.
Over the years I’ve worked at many different secretarial positions such as Time-Warner
Cable, Cooperative Ext. 4-H office and the last 25 years with the Education Dept. for
AHRC. Presently I am a member of Mulberry House Players (drama group) and I also lec-
ture on the effect of our American Civil War on the lives of women and children.
I have been fortunate enough to have made many friends and have had great co-workers
everywhere I’ve gone. I once said, “ I was born in Middletown but didn’t plan on dying
here,” however, that might not be too bad, don’t you think?
