Ainsworth Choir Music

Sunday, April 15 On Sunday, April 15 the Ainsworth Choir will

be accompanied by soloists and orchestra in a

presentation of the Easter portion of Handel’s

beloved oratorio, Messiah. This rarely heard

portion of Messiah tells the story of Jesus’

death and resurrection, his ascension to

heaven, and the work of the Apostles as they

begin to spread the Good News of our

salvation. Familiar choruses, like “Lift up your

heads, o ye gates” and “Hallelujah,” and gems

like “The Lord gave the word” and “Their

sound has gone out” all come from this portion

of Messiah. Joining the Ainsworth Choir will

be soloists mezzo-soprano Mary Beth

Kosowski, tenor Beauregard Palmer, and bass-

baritone Michael O’Hearn, a true Atlanta

native who currently lives in New York City.

We will also feature our soprano intern,

Lindsey Rueter as the soprano soloist, before

she graduates from Mercer University in May

and returns to Nashville, TN.

We will begin worship with two portions of

Handel’s Bb-Major organ concerto (Op. 4, no.

4) featuring our interim organist, Pat Crowe, in

this joyful work for orchestra and organ.
