Multi-domain Bandwidth on Demand service pilot

This poster has been produced with the financial assistance of the European Union. The contents of this document are the sole responsibilityof DANTE and can under no circumstances be regarded as reflecting the position of the European Unionwww.dante.net

2 Technical Pilot

3 Operational Pilot• Production networks are used• Focus on operational and management considerations,

e.g. procedures

4 Service Pilot• Full service is tested • Real use cases are served• Focus on and adjustment to real users requirements

• Technical feasibility tested in NRENs’ test beds• Focus on interoperability and transport at stitching points

5 ToolsAutoBAHN - a GÉANT provided dynamic provisioning toolthat integrates with an NREN's own systems

AutoBAHN features• Automated provisioning of dynamic L2 and L1 circuits

in multi-domain environments• Support for various provisioning technologies: native

Ethernet, SDH, Ethernet over MPLS• Advance reservations• Configurable policies giving the domains the control

over their resources• Interoperability with other BoD systems through DICE

IDC Protocol• User-friendly Client portal for managing the reservations• API access for end users' custom applications

cNIS - a topology information tool that feeds AutoBAHNwith Ethernet and SDH network topology objects. It featuresautomatic network topology discovery.

1 OverviewGoal: provide point-to-point high-bandwidth connectivity for

data transportPhases: three phases over one year to cover different aspects of

the service: technical, operational, service

Capabilities:• Supported networking equipment: Juniper MX480, Juniper

EX, Alcatel MCC 1678 platform, Brocade/Foundry NetIronXMR, DLink 3450

• Technologies: SDH, Ethernet, MPLS• Capacity: up to 10Gbps

Interoperability:• IDCP developed with Internet2 and ESnet• Network Service Interface (NSI) developed in the Open Grid

Forum (long-term future)
