MAINTENANCETo ensure maximum possible performance fromyour SPA Firefighter/Firesense-Response Sys-tem, the following checks and maintenanceprocedures should be carried out.

·Regularly check pressure gauge to ensurethey are in the green sector.

·Regularly check nozzles for debris or anyobstructions.

·Regularly check the integrity of thepipework and fittings.

·Regularly check the cylinder for damage.·Your SPA Firefighter/Firesense-Response

systemmust be serviced every 2 years.A service date is written on the contentlabel on the extinguisher. It is up to you toensure that the servicing is carried out atthe correct intervals. Servicing of thesystem must be carried out by SPA Designor Approved Vendor

·If your system has been discharged, youmust return it to SPA or dealers for servicingand refilling.

NOTESPlease ensure that you monitor the following, as youMAYNOTpass scrutineering IF: -

·The needle of the gauge is in the red.

·The bottle label is worn, damaged or unreadable.

·The unit is not within the service date.

·The system is in poor condition.

is a 90ocone pattern with a 1/2 metre range. Thenozzle is designed to mount through a bulkheadif desired or mounting brackets. Nozzles shouldnot simply be supported by their own pipe work.

Nozzles should be checked for damage/possible blockage. They should also be testedto ensure that they are in good working order.

Depending on the class of racing / rallying,(which is the competitors responsibility) e.g.International rallying, which needs a 4 Itsystem, the engine bay must have 3 nozzlesinstalled, with one each side of the motor and 3nozzles installed in the cockpit.

For open cars, the system must include at leastone nozzle which should be aimed at the driversmidriff with special care being taken not to sprayinto the drivers face.

For saloon /closed cars a minimum of 3 nozzlesmust be fitted (again depending on the system)within the cockpit area. Nozzles should be fittedeither to the top of the roll bar main hoop (door Bpillar) pointing inwards and downwards towardsthe foot of the diagonally opposite front roll barhoop base (door A post) or either under thedashboard aiming at the drivers midriff.

These are only guide lines for competitors usingSPA DESIGN fire suppression systems.

Pull cables should be fitted in such a waythat no kinks or ’S’ bends are formed, whichcould cause malfunction.

Removing the safety pin from the lever-valveleaves the system ready for use.

SAFETY WARNING Failure to removesafety pin will render the systeminoperable when required.

A.F.F.F. NOZZLESIt is important that all of the nozzles provided inthe fire system kit are used.

The nozzles will produce a fine atomised spraywith the AFFF emerging as a milky white foamsubstance, which forms a film barrier starving thefire of oxygen. This foam spray has thecapability of excellent fire out times and has a cool-ing effect, which can control re-ignition. Whenlocating the nozzles it should be noted that there

SPA DESIGN FIREFIGHTER/ FIRESENSE-RESPONSE ELECTRICAL DETAILS

The SPA FireFighter/ Firesense-Responsesystem uses actuators to operate valves locatedwith in the pressurised container that containsthe extinguishant. These are triggered remotelyusing a battery-powered power pack.

In order to guarantee reliable operation theconnectors used are 1P67 and the actuatorsused are of a military specification with thesystem / battery test electronics integrated intothe power pack. The actuators are designed toeither operate indivually, or to be wired in seriesif two firing heads are used.

The power pack electronics can test thecontinuity of the wiring, and also provides a highcurrent pulse test to ensure system integrity be-fore use. Unlike other systems, the battery testwill not destroy or put an excessive drain on thebattery during this critical test. These tests areperformed using a three way switch on thepower pack box and should be performedbefore each usage of the system, since thesystem is only as good as the battery thatpowers it and the integrity of the wiring loom andits connectors.

To check the condition of the battery. press andhold up the switch on the power pack box. Everytwo seconds you will see a YELLOW lightflash. If the light flashes very dimly the battery mustbe replaced.

IF IN DOUBT REPLACE THE BATTERY !!!!

Everytwo seconds you will see a YELLOWlightflash. If the light flashes very dimly the battery mustbe replaced.

IF IN DOUBT REPLACE THE BATTERY !!!!

MAINTENANCETo ensure maximum possible performance fromyour SPA Firefighter/Firesense-Response Sys-tem, the following checks and maintenanceprocedures should be carried out.

· Regularly check pressure gauge to ensurethey are in the green sector.

· Regularly check nozzles for debris or anyobstructions.

· Regularly check the integrity of thepipework and fittings.

· Regularly check the cylinder for damage.· Your SPA Firefighter/Firesense-Response

system must be serviced every 2 years.A service date is written on the contentlabel on the extinguisher. It is up to you toensure that the servicing is carried out atthe correct intervals. Servicing of thesystem must be carried out by SPA Designor Approved Vendor

· If your system has been discharged, youmust return it to SPA or dealers for servicingand refilling.

NOTESPlease ensure that you monitor the following, as youMAY NOT pass scrutineering IF: -

· The needle of the gauge is in the red.

· The bottle label is worn, damaged or unreadable.

· The unit is not within the service date.

· The system is in poor condition.

is a 90o cone pattern with a 1/2 metre range.

MAINTENANCETo ensure maximum possible performance from your SPA Fire Fighter / Firesense Response system, the following checks and maintenance procedures should be carried out.

• Regularly check the pressure gauge to ensure they are in the green section.

• Regularly check nozzles for debris or any obstructions externally and internally.

• Regularly check the integrity of the pipe work and fitting. • Regularly check the cylinder for physical damage or

corrosion.• Regularly check the mounting base and retaining straps are

secure.• Regularly check your power pack control box and condition

of the internal. alkaline battery, the battery should be changed preferably every 6 months or if system has been fired off.

• Regularly check your wiring and electrical connectors for any damage.

• If the system has been activated the nozzles and pipe work should be washed through with fresh water and then cleared with an air line if possible to avoid residue of the extinguishant crystallizing in the pipe work or nozzles.

• Your SPA fire suppression system must be serviced every 2 years, a service due date is written on the contents label located on your cylinder. It is up to you to ensure the services are carried out at the correct intervals.

• If your system has been discharged or requires a 2-year service you must return it to SPA or an approved agent of SPA fire suppression systems.

NOTESPlease ensure that you monitor the following, as you may not pass scrutineering if;

• The needle on the gauge is in the red section• The bottle contents label is worn, damaged or unreadable.• The unit is not within the service date.• The system is in a poor condition

SPA DESIGN FIREFIGHTER/ FIRESENSE-RESPONSEELECTRICAL DETAILS

Everytwo seconds you will see a YELLOWlightflash. If the light flashes very dimly the battery mustbe replaced.

Mount the 12-ft cable on the outside of thevehicle (close to the exterior master switchis the recommended position). Lay the cableinside the vehicle and connect to the lever-valve as above.
