Chapter VIII Appendix 8-1、embroidery machine basic knowledge(select needle and thread)

8-1-1、how to select thread

A、use good thread with stable tension, not too loose or tight, even thickness,

proper toughness, not too breakable, otherwise break easily.

B、select left twisted thread.(rotary hook rotates left)

distinguish different direction twisted thread(Pic.94):

Difference of twisted direction: Hold thread, twist thread according to arrow in right hand:

If it twists back, it means ‘left twisted thread’; twist ahead means

‘right twisted thread’

C、smooth,

D、a nice look

E、matching needle

F、little shrink to hot

G、strength of thread should not be degraded.

H、less knots,fuzz

Two different twisted thread

Z-type twisted Left twisted

S-type twisted Right twist

I、Not be apt to fade

J、should use embroidery thread, shape-variable floss or 120# artificial threads.

K、thread spool。(Pic.95)

Items(3)embroidery thread.

8-1-2、select under thread

Use cotton yarn 80#-120#(502#、602#)。

Fragile thread will break easily. If thread is too thick, it will break or effect

embroidery quality and the total length of under thread will influent

efficiency.

8-1-3、wind under thread

A、wind the bobbin as per Pic.96

B、winding thread like(2)、(3)、(4)、(5)in Pic.96 will cause thread broken,

entangled, and influent embroidery quality

C、bobbin capacity should be around 90%,if winding are too much thread would

cause unsmooth deliver

D、bobbin(120#) with 90% capacity has about 80 meter under thread. And large

bobbin’s is twice of small bobbin.
