MultifractalAnalysisofIntracranialEEGinEpilepticusRatsAbstractNetworksoflivingneuronsexhibitdiversepatternsofactivity,whicharealwaysoperatingfarfromequilibriuminthemammaliancentralnervoussystem.Inthisstudy,ablockerofglutamatetransporterwasemployedtodetectifnonlinearinteractionschangedwhenextraglutamateactedasapotentneurotoxintoneuralactivityinhippocampusofepilepticWistarrats.Ahypothesiswasmadethatadecreaseofcomplexityofinformationcouldbeoccurredbyaccumulationofglutamateinhippocampus.AninvestigationwasperformedtomeasureintracranialEEG,whichwereobtainedfromtwopartsofbraininthreeratsgroups,byusingmultifractaldetrendedfluctuationanalysis.Theresultsdemonstratethatthechangeofnonlinearinteractionsinneuralnetworkcanbeclearlydetectedbymultifractalanalysis.Moreover,smallfluctuationinactivityofnetworkexhibitedadecreaseinmultifractalbehavior,suggestedthatthecomplexityofinformationtransmittingandstoringinbrainnetworkwasweakenedbyglutamateaccumulation.
