Job Title: Title III Access to Core Instructional Coach Secondary

Location: District Wide
Salary Information: Instructional Coach—Secondary (0846) -- Teacher Preparation Table C Basis, 7-hour Day (+differential)
Job Description: 1. Conduct demonstration lessons and provide feedback for teachers on instructional strategies and classroom practices relating to Designated and Integrated English Language Development (ELD) and standards-based content area instruction
2. Facilitate professional development in banked-time, grade-level/department meetings, and study groups to assist teachers in accelerating EL academic achievement via Designated and Integrated ELD
3. Coach teachers through the Cognitive Coaching Cycle and guide teachers in use of assessment data, examination of student work, planning and delivery of instruction for ELs
4. Support intervention services to target EL student groups based on identified needs 5. Participate in Central and Local District professional development to support Title III initiatives 6. Submit monthly Reflection Log aligned to the Coach Essential Responsibilities for Title III accountability.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Permanent certificated status with LAUSD 2. At least five school years of successful full-time service in a certificated position(s) 3. A valid California Single Subject Teaching Credential (ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies or Foreign Lang.) 4. Appropriate authorization to teach English learners (BCLAD, CLAD, or equivalent authorization)
Desirable Skills: 1. Knowledge of the LAUSD English Learner Master Plan 2. Strong curricular knowledge and experience teaching in Master Plan Programs 3. Knowledge of the Common Core State Standards and ELD standards 4. Knowledge and understanding of instructional strategies that promote academic language development and access to core content for the accelerated achievement of English learners
5. Strong curricular knowledge and experience teaching in core content areas (English/ELD, history/social science, mathematics, science)
6. Knowledge of and experience in embedding Culturally and Linguistically Responsive teaching strategies into daily classroom instruction
7. Knowledge of a tiered system of support to promote access to core and ELD proficiency 8. Ability to use technology as an instructional tool and for data collection and analysis for reporting, teacher improvement, and to promote academic proficiency for English learners
9. Experience in designing and delivering professional development using adult learning theory 10. Excellent oral and written communication skills;; bilingual 11. Ability to work effectively with diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic, disability and socio-economic groups
