Mumbai Traffic Police PRESS NOTE

Mumbai Traffic Police has made elaborate arrangements regarding upcoming

Ganpati festival 2017 for smooth flow of traffic and for preventing inconvenience to

commuters. Five Traffic Police Control Rooms have been set up at important immersion

places viz Girgaon Chowpatty, Shivaji Park Chowpatty, Bada Masjid, Bandra, Juhu

Chowpatty and Ganesh Ghat-Powai. Traffic Police is erecting watch towers at strategic

places for monitoring and regulating traffic flow during procession and immersion.

Arrangements for barricading at important roads has been done to segregate procession

crowd and returning crowd for safety purposes. Police cranes, BMC cranes and High

capacity cranes are being stationed at strategic locations to handle contingencies in the

event of breakdown of vehicles. First Aid Centers have also been setup for medical

assistance.

Approximately 3,600 traffic police officers and men and 500 Traffic Wardens are

being deployed for the traffic management of the event. Various NGOs too are assisting

the Traffic Police in this endeavor which includes volunteers from Civil Defence,

Anirudha’s Academy of Disaster Management, RSP Teachers, Water Safety Patrol, NSS

Students, Scouts and Guides etc.

In view of this festival, certain traffic restrictions have been imposed in Mumbai

City on 26th

August (Saturday), 29th

August (Tuesday), 31st August (Thursday) and 5

th

September, 2017 (Tuesday) from 12.00 hrs. to 06.00 hrs. the next day. The restrictions

imposed are as under:

1. Closure of vehicular traffic on 53 roads.

2. One way vehicular movement on 54 roads.

3. Parking restrictions at 99 places.

A detailed note on the above restrictions is enclosed herewith as Annexure-I

Apart from the above traffic regulations on immersion days, separate traffic

regulations and diversions have been issued to avoid traffic congestion and

inconvenience to commuters near Lalbaugcha Raja. These details have been attached in

Annexure-II separately.

The aforesaid arrangements are for safety and prevention of inconvenience to the

general public. Mumbai Traffic Police appeals to all people of Mumbai to abide by the

said regulations and cooperate with the Traffic Police to make this Ganpati Festival a

smooth & enjoyable event for all.

bound traffic. The traffic will be diverted from Link Road junction via Yogi Nagar on Eksar

Marg to its junction with Nathalal Parekh Marg for West Bound traffic.


03. Kalbadevi Road will be closed from its junction with Kika Street to Vardhaman Chowk for

South Bound Traffic.

PYDHONIE TRAFFIC DIVISION :

04. Shivdas Chapsi Marg will be closed from Jinabhai Mulji Rathod Marg junction to Noor

Baug junction for South bound. i.e. Only one way for North bound vehicular traffic from

Noorbaug junction to Jeenabhai Mulji Rathod Marg Junction.

MALBAR HILL TRAFFIC DIVISION :

05. French Bridge will be closed for South bound vehicular traffic i.e. "No Entry" from

Nyaymurthi Sitaram Patkar Marg (Hughes Road).

06. Walkeshwar Road will be closed for vehicular traffic proceeding down the hill from Teen

Batti to Band Stand (Except for BEST buses).


07. Nyaymurthi Sitaram Patkar Marg (Hughes Road) will be closed from its junction with

Pandita Ramabai Marg to its junction with S.V.P. Road for South bound traffic.

08. Pandita Ramabai Marg will be closed from its junction with Nyaymurthi Sitaram Patkar

Marg (Hughes Road) upto Nana Chowk for West bound traffic i.e. "No Entry" from Nana

29. N. M. Joshi Marg - When Lalbaug Raja Ganapati procession will pass on Bharatmata

junction, The Traffic will be closed from Shingate Master Chowk up to Arthar Road Naka

towards Chinchpokali. When Lalbaug Raja procession will be pass on Gas Company

junction then Traffic will be closed at Shingate Master Chowk up to Arther Road Naka and

traffic will be open towards Bharatmata junction.

B) EASTERN SUBURB :

DADAR TRAFFIC DIVISION

30. Veer Savarkar Marg (Cadell Road) will be closed from its junction with L. J. Road

(Mahim junction) to its junction with S. K. Bole Marg (Siddhi Vinayak junction) for South

bound traffic including BEST buses. North bound traffic will proceed from South bound

carriageway.

31. Bal Govind Das Road will be one way from its junction with J. K. Sawant Marg to its

junction with L. J .Road.

32. J. K. Sawant Marg will be closed from its junction with N.C. Kelkar Marg to its junction

with Bal Govind Das Marg for South bound traffic.

33. S. K. Bole Marg will be one way from Hanuman Temple to Portuguese Church for South

bound vehicular traffic i.e. "No Entry" from Portuguese Church to Hanuman Temple.

34. Takandas Kataria Road (Lady Jamshedji Marg) will be closed for west bound traffic

including BEST buses from L. J. Road to Veer Savarkar Marg (Cadell Road). The existing

one way will be reversed.


35. Tilak Road will be one way from Dadar T.T. to its junction with Katrak Road for East

bound traffic.

36. Katrak Road will be one way from its junction with Don Bosco Chowk to its junction with

Supari Baug for South bound traffic (South bound carriage way will be used for North bound

traffic, since the North bound carriage way will be reserved for Ganpati procession only).

39. Juhu Road will be one way from its junction with S.V.Road to Koliwada junction for South

bound traffic.

40. Juhu Tara Road will be one way from its junction with Koliwada to Tulip Star junction for

South bound traffic.

41. Vaikuntlal Mehta Road Vile Parle : Entry for all type of vehicles will be closed from East

to West on V. M. Road West Bound from S.V. Road & V. M. Road junction to V. M. Road

& Juhu Tara Road junction (Tulip Star junction) on V. M. Road.

42. Indravadan Oza Road Entry for all type of vehicles Except BEST Buses will be closed

from West to East on Indravadan Oza Road from its junction with Guru Nanak Road up to

Gulmohar Road.

43. Irala Society Marg will be ‘One way’ from S.V.Road to Gulmohar Road junction.

44. Gulmohar Road will be closed from its junction with V. M. Road to Indravadan Oza Road

for south bound traffic.

45. Juhu Tara Road will be one way for North bound traffic from its junction with Juhu Road

up to its junction with A. B. Nair Road i.e. "No Entry" from A.B. Nair Road.

D. N. NAGAR TRAFFIC DIVISION :

46. Varsova J. P. Road will be one way from Sagar Kutir to Ganga Bhavan for North Bound

traffic.

47. P. K. Sawant Road will be closed for the West bound. The Road will remain open for both

way traffic from Link road and Urban Tadka Hotel junction.

48. Caeser Road will be one way from S. V. Road to J. P. Road for west bound traffic.


49. K. T. Soni Marg will be one way from New Link Road, Mahaveer Nagar to Immersion

Point, Kandivali (West).

50. Bhandarpada Road will be one way from Poisar to Kalpana Chawala Chowk to Sameer

Chandavarkar Road up to Immerssion Point, Kandivali (West).

BORIVALI TRAFFIC DIVISION :

51. Lokmanya Tilak Marg will be closed for East bound vehicular traffic i.e. "No Entry" from

Link Road junction to Babhai Naka. East bound vehicular traffic is diverted from Link Road

junction via Yogi Nagar, Eksar Road.


52. Gavdevi Road - There will be one way for vehicles going from goregaon towards marol. i.e.

Vehicles should only go from unit no. 3 to gavdevi temple.

53. Newzealand Hotel – there will be one way for vehicles going from marol to goregaon Toll

naka i. e. vehicles should only go from unit 16 to Aaarey Toll naka.

DAHISAR TRAFFIC DIVISION :
