Dingbat “greenhouses” was brought into being as a structure of a self-forming image. Text becomes a main index that forms an image, and at the same time it is complete-ly unimportant because it is not readable. Created by Milda Urbšytė.

APradėkime teiginiu (a), jog absoliučiai tiksli loginė išvada yra neįmanoma be absoliučių žinių.

LOGINIS PARADOKSASLet’s start with a proposition (a) that an absolutely cor-rect logical conclu-sion is not possible without an absolute knowledge. For an absolutely correct logical conclusion we need absolute-ly comprehensive and complete in-formation (or ab-solute knowledge).
In case of trying to solve the problems with the help of logic we encounter an infinite number of variables, which can not be exactly measured and known, therefore, according to the prop-osition (a) absolutely correct logical conclusion is impossible.

Paradoksalu yra tai, kad (b) ši išvada, jog be absoliučių žinių absoliučiai tiksli loginė išvada – neįmanoma yra pasiek-ta vien tik loginio samprotavimo dėka – be absoliučių žinių.
B>
LOGINIS PARADOKSAS
It is paradoxical that (b) this conclusion, that with-out an absolute knowledge absolutely correct logical conclusion is impossible was attained solely through logical reasoning - without absolute knowledge.
>
AB Du loginiai teiginiai: (a) absoliučiai tiksli loginė išvada neįmanoma be absoliučiai tikslių žinių ir (b) išvada (a) priimta vien tik loginio sam-protavimo pagalba ir be absoliučių žinių yra teisin-gi, tačiau vienas kitą neigia. Two logical propositions: (a) absolutely correct logical con-clusion is not possible with-out an absolute knowledge and (b) conclusion (a) attained solely through logical reason-ing and without an absolute knowledge are both right, but they deny each other.

D. Nežinau, koks tas tarptautinis lygis, įvairovė man įdomu. Tie rėmai keisti sugadino įspūdį. Gal su stipresne atranka būtų išvengta grūsties ant sienų/grotų.M. Dū. Ši instaliacija tikrai yra tarptautinė, kažkiek netgi primenanti Lietuvos paviljono paskutinėje Venecijos bienalėje koncepciją, kurioje atsispindėjo už baltos užuolaidos pasislėpusi Lietuvos dailė. Čia tas pats – tik be užuolaidos ir beveik pusės pasaulio grafika. O įspūdis toks, lyg užuolaida būtų !!!A.

Šiuo atsakymu tiesiog išsisukinėju, nes laimėtojų ne-prisimenu, o katalogo po ranka neturiu; tačiau pats parodoje nedalyvavau, tad jokių nuoskaudų nejaučiu :)A. Nieko nemanau.

M. M. Jo daug. Ir šiek tiek be veido, nes dominuoja skaitmena.

Galbūt jų niekas nekvietė dalyvauti instaliacijoje; be to, jei jau lyginame su automobiliais, didelė „Volvo“ akcijų da-lis priklauso, atrodo, kinams, o „Saab“ – jau nebeegzsituojanti firma…A. ).

l? M. M. Print triennial was a great pretext for going to a fun, autumnal trip. Art is art, but somehow life those days seemed incomparably vivid.2. V. Sad thoughts.M. D. I recall, it evoked various thoughts. Variety of themes, those that I could under-stand, caused contemplations, effect of size in graphics. It was interesting to see very technical works.M. Dū. Probably, none of the organizers expected that we will be so captious, when ar-riving at Krakow. If times of only technologically motivated sights have not passed yet, perhaps the term “graphics” has expanded so much that it is no longer possible to focus on a single event. This show is more like an installation - the mood is more affective. It is very strange, but it cant be anticipated. However, whether it was created intentionally, as I would like very much to believe - you can only guess.A. Thoughts about contemporary print context.
2. Please, name a few emotions caused by the exhibition.M. M. Everything is fine with us. It feels like the jury of the triennial studied carefully only the sizes of works.2. V. Anger and disappointment, when you see what unprofessional and arrogant view of organizers to-wards the artists and their art can do.M. D. Delight, happiness, art.M. Dū. Maybe there was something too much, therefore something a lit-tle bit too little.A. Amazement, happiness.

s? M. M. Architects of the Polish exhibition should learn from Ozarinskas.2. V. Tragical exposition.M. D. I didn’t like the blinking glass that choked the works, everything was sparkling and reflected one another. Maybe the bars didn’t damage the good works. Why they chose to use bars - I don’t know, maybe they needed more space. M. Dū. It can not be an accident, as you may suspect. However, I also do not have a right answer. Perhaps in this way all is drowned in to a relative instalation, which, by the way, impressed many viewers.A. I didn’t like them.

M. M. With the miraculous perfume of Giedrius Jonaitis. They are un-real.2. V. With Poland.M. D. Actually with no smell.M. Dū. Perhaps ventilation system is to blame for the smell? No, it may be that this irritant was deliberate. It was not even a smell, but an occa-sionally appearing waft. Once again, it just proves the character of instal-lation. The bad smell only created an entirety and that is why the smell is good, as soon as we decouple the bad smell from the aggregate, bad smell just remains bad.A. Doesn’t associate with any smell at all.
5. Do you think the exhibition fits an international level?M. M. I think it could be possible, if there were fewer works, if there was a subjective selection. If the exhibition would have a concept, idea. Fact is that it is hard to get a good quality when participants are asked to send their last year’s works, but it’s worth trying. Then we could talk about the culture of exposition, about controlling of spaces through image. I think the style of “students works review” is old fashioned, it doesn’t lead anywhere. Because works are torn out of context, lost like kids without their parents.2. V. Although there were really famous international artists in the exhibition, they disappeared in the swamp of bad art and bad exposition.M. D. I don’t know what that international level is but variety was interesting to me. Those strange frames killed the impres-sion. Maybe with more strict selection they could have avoided over-crowded walls/bars.M. Dū. This installation really is international. Some of it even resembles of a concept at the Lithuanian Pavilion at the last Venice Biennale, where Lithuanian art was hidden behind the white curtain. Here it is the same - only without the curtain and with nearly half of the world’s graphics and the impression as if a curtain was there!A. I think yes.

as? M. M. Probably because the curators of the exhibition think that only big images are “cool” and worth the status
of a participant. Because the exhibition was “brought together”, sent. Because rent of equipment is expensive, therefore there were no graphic works created with media technologies, objects, installations. Because artists sent what they sent, and jury selected what they selected, and exhibited how they could and how much space they had.2. V. Because the Poles are a presumptuous nation, and their art is bad. Only the highway is good, because Chi-nese made it, but it is very expensive. Oh, also there are good cherries in Poland, but you have to turn left from main road, looking at the South.M. D. Because it happened so.M. Dū. For all the reasons stated above, the exhibition is exactly like that because of my conscious decision to see it that way after the fact when I actually saw it. Whether this assumption matches the idea of the organizers or not (which is very possible), it is not important in this case.A. Many high level artists from all over the world.

Kayauko Jinno’s mezzotint. Art Werger’s mastery. Bruce Thayer’s personages... Grim concrete cookies, I didn’t write down whose work was that.M. Dū. ks?M. M. I’m ashamed to say that I don’t know who
got nominated, and who didn’t. So, just because you asked, I opened their website and checked. Most of the nominated works were those which show a human figure or a silhouette similar to it. Probably for a human it is more acceptable to un-derstand the idea, feeling of the other through a figure. Eye recognizes images and brain becomes happy having found something touchable, sim-ilar to itself. So, why not nominate them? We don’t grudge. Nomination is a matter of taste, moon faze and a wineglass. And of course politics, even though it’s not a time of war.2. V. Misunderstanding. If they don’t know what good print/graphics is, because they have always been creating in soviet-polish style, then how can they understand who is worth a reward? This is not the same like drinking “Zubrovka”…M. D. Unfortunately, I didn’t memorize the nomi-nees, I was at loss. M. Dū. In the case of installations it is probably not right to exclude certain liked objects - they all influence each other and without one or an-other they would be not seen or would be per-ceived absolutely differently. In this answer I’m just dodging because I do not remember who were the winners and I do not have a catalog by my side. However I did not take part in this exhibition so I do not feel any regrets.A. I don’t have opinion about it.

nt? M. M. There is a lot of it. A general
feeling is that works are over-crowd-ed (but that’s the fault of exposi-tion). Or maybe that’s a proof of vivid thinking and technological mastery. Works are a little bit faceless, be-cause digital print is dominating. They are lacking factures of surface. But maybe those were not Polish au-thors’ works… Sorry for the poetry regarding this question.2. V. Bad in general: morally old moralistic print with strong Soviet smell of the 50’s; although there are a few not bad artists. M. D. Excellent prints, same as the ones of Lithuanians or Americans. M. Dū. I would not relate the answer to this question with the overall con-text of the triennial. Polish engraving can be compared with the dinosaurs or the Polski Fiat brand cars: some are already extinct, but worth re-spect, others - rapidly disappearing, but also worth respect. We might not be able to create a dinosaur, but maybe we can create a Lithuanian car at least a little bit better.A. There were good works and not so good, but basically – nothing special.
10. Why do you think Scandinavians didn’t participate in the exhibition?M. M. I don’t know. Maybe they weren’t selected, or maybe they boycotted this event? Maybe their works were too clean, too white.2. V. Maybe we should ask why those few good artists participated there?M. D. Maybe they weren’t interested.M. Dū. Perhaps no one invited them to participate in the instalation. Fur-thermore, if we already compare it with cars, so a big part of “Volvo” shares are owned by the Chinese, I think, and “Saab” is already a nonexistant firm.A. Because they don’t know how to create graphics/prints, only design. (However, if I’m not mistaken, there was one bad work from Sweden?...)

opposes the personified voice of the government. She analyses the process which has to be undergone by all the immigrants even behind the European Union if they want to receive the UK visa. Everything is happening like in a mass: in this case the voice is the “priest” who asks and the crowd answers.
Y ukinori Yanagi „Pacific“.
Y ukinori Yanagi “Pacific” work is composed of 49 transpar-ent boxes with colored sand, from which the artist poured
the flags of 49 countries. Thousands of ants were let inside the contain-ers, where their movement mixed the sand: transported from one flag into another. Like a reflection of global migration, the ants step by step diminished the boarders between different countries.
Kohey Yousiyuki. „The Park“.

Theme: “The unexpected guest”, dedicated to a vast concept of hospitality: it’s like a pleasant welcoming of a stranger, a view or a metaphor that inspires artists. Global processes are changing the concept of hospitality, cultures are mixing and some people are scared of it, a distance among people of different cultures who live in the same place appears.
Žiūrovas tampa lyg vienu iš dalyvių, slaptu orgijų stebėtoju, vojeristu. Tarsi stebi stebinčiuosius, o kartais pats tampi stebimu.
K ohey Yoshiyuki “The Park”: since 1970s author has been documenting the “lively” night life of Tokyo
parks. In the result we see the hidden part of the town: pairs and groups get involved in sexual actions or are watching others doing that. Fascinat-ed by these illegal games of a cat and a mouse, Yoshiyuki spent the next 6 months like one of them. After a couple of years he collected a big col-lection of works that could be seen in the gallery. Spectators must enter the room through a very thick curtain, they are given flashlights with which they can light the works and the space. The spectator becomes one of the participants, a secret spectator of the orgy, a voyeur. At the same time he or she is watching the spectators and is watched by others.
Mona Hatoum „Present tense“.
Mona Hatoum (“Present tense”) created a map of Palestine, picturing ter-ritories that should have
been returned to Palestine in 1993 according to the Oslo pact. Author created the object using traditional soap and pieces of red glass from a local foundry in Palestine. Soap – a pure material used for cleaning – was deformed by the red pellets that changed the appearance and surface like some kind of illness. According to the author, it’s a reference to the fact how these new walls tried to deform their land and paralyze the nation of Palestine. Representation of a map by using soap, a short-term material, is like a promise that one day the walls will melt.

CHIU Chen-Hung. „Confes-sional“.
C HIU Chen-Hung “Confes-sional”: a sculptural closed form object, made from furniture gathered in the
streets aof the artist about the decon-struction of thrown away objects and his wish to reconstruct them again, shows a relationship between the city and its residents. These forgot-ten pieces in the cities perform the work of various archives and codes that trigger memories and spirits that reside in them. It’s an interesting work of art and its exposition is very unexpected: the objects is hanging about 1,66 m above the ground, the spectator sits on the chair and listens to the whispers coming from the sculpture.
Audrius Bučas ir Valdas Ozarinskas. „Formalizmai“.
A udrius Bucas and Valdas Ozarinskas “Formalisms”. This project has only one ob-ject – a huge, black, inflatable
pillow. In the beginning the idea of two architects, formalists, was just to address the limits of the human phe-nomenological experience. However very soon this work was whirled up with various stories and interpreta-tions for its nondescript size, black color, etc.

POKALBIS SU SHALTMIRA1. AR TAU MENAS - KASDIENYBĖ? / IS ART - SOME-THING MUNDANE FOR YOU?
It would be more natural to say that there is a lot of art in my mundane life. I don’t work in any of-fice so I don’t have to run and waste my energy when I wake up. I wake up, check my e-mails if I haven’t re-ceived any new offers, invitations for collaborations or new orders, I think what I would like to do today, for example to draw on the wall, create new designs for a new T-shirt col-lection, or maybe start organizing next body-art project. I choose what I will do depending on my mood. I work every day for myself, I create or take care of things related to my creation. It doesn’t matter, whether it is my web page renewal or going to the post office to send some zines.
2. KASDIENYBĖ ASOCIJUOJASI SU RUTINA. AR TAU MENINĖ VEIKLA NETAMPA RUTINA? / MUNDANE ASSOCIATES WITH ROUTINE. DO ARTISTIC ACTIVI-TIES EVER TURN INTO ROUTINE FOR YOU?
Ne. Stengiuosi neįsivelti į veiklas, kurios man keltų kančias. / No. I try not to get involved in activities that would cause me pain. If I get involved in one project for a longer period of time, I know that I have a goal and it is my driving force. It is important to understand that you are free to change and choose. If you don’t get pleasure from what you are doing - do something else. Therefore I like to work in different media.

3. AR DIDELĘ ĮTAKĄ TAVO KŪRYBOJE DARO TAI, KAS NUTIKO TĄ DIENĄ, AR NEMAŽA DALIS KŪRYBOS ATEINA „IŠ PASĄMONĖS“? / DO THINGS THAT HAPPEN EVERY DAY HAVE A BIG IMPACT ON
YOUR WORK, OR MAYBE MOST OF YOUR WORKS ARISE FROM YOUR SUBCONSCIOUSNESS?
Kartais diena praeina ir nieko ypatingo nenutinka, dirbtinai nesistengiu iškasti informacijos kūrybai. Jei nie-kas neužstrigo, vadinasi nebuvo taip svarbu. Judi toliau. Dažniausiai „freestylinu“ kai „body-art’inu“, taip pat komiksų workšopuose, tada naudoji „vidinius resursus“, nes nėra laiko eskizuoti, taip sakant, kuriu tiosioginiame eteryje :> / Sometimes a day passes by and noth-ing special happens. I don’t try to extract information for creation artificially. If nothing touched me, it means that it wasn’t that important. I keep moving forward. Naturally I keep the balance between what is planned and what happens spontaneously. A lot of works get born during a longer period of time, somehow I start laying my thoughts, they settle down, sometimes I even forget about them, and then one day I remember - oh, I should draw those series at last, etc. I am usually freestyling when I am doing body art, also in comics workshops; then I use my “inner resources”, because there is no time for sketching, in other words - I am creating “live” :>
4. ŽINAI, KAI FOTOGRAFUOJA RANKINĖS TURINĮ, MAŽDAUG „PARODYK, KĄ KASDIEN NEŠIOJIESI SU SAVIMI“. KĄ NEŠIOJASI ‘MENININKAI’, KO PAPRASTAI NERASI „NORMALIŲ” ŽMONIŲ RANKINĖSE? /
YOU KNOW, WHEN THEY PHOTOGRAPH THE CONTENTS OF YOUR BAG, LIKE “SHOW US WHAT ARE YOU CARRYING WITH YOU EVERY DAY”. WHAT DO ARTISTS USUALLY CARRY WHAT YOU WOULDN’T
FIND IN THE BAGS OF “NORMAL” PEOPLE?
Kol ruošiuosi ateinančioms paro-doms, renginiams, performansams etc, didžiąją laiko dalį praleidžiu savo kambary-studijoje, todėl man nėra tokie reikšmingi daiktai, kuriuos su savimi nešiojuosi. Bet išeidama iš namų visad pasiimu knygą. Net kai keliauju į kitas šalis, stengiuosi ap-siriboti kuo mažesniu kiekiu daiktų, žinoma, tada man svarbiausia pasi-imti savo išleistų zinų ir marškinėlių. / When I am preparing for the up-coming exhibitions, events, perfor-mances, etc., most of the time I spend in my room-studio, therefore things that I carry with me are not that important. However, I never leave home without a book. Even when I travel to foreign countries, I try not to take too many things with me. Of course, it is most important to take my zines and T-shirts with me then. P17
MENAS
GYV
ENI

Paleisti man irgi – menas.

ART
It‘s so strange to see how your own atti-tude towards certain things change over time. The same applies to me. A couple of years ago it would have seemed to me that an ar-ticle about “art” should inevitably explain the esthetical or philosophical layer that cover a piece of “art” and is brought by “artist’s” sub-conscious mind, the layer that gives a sense (or maybe nonsense?) to the masterpiece (or maybe cliché?). There is a clear reason why in this text I accentuate words “art” and “artist” in quote marks. The attitude changed. Taking into account the transformation I experienced through my life and comparing me from the past with me in the present allows to finally understand what and why is ART to me today, or more like how the art HAPPENS to me.
So, I am writing here and now about what is art to me today: to look at the problem from a different angle; master the pealing of pota-toes and carrots to perfection; hear my own true wishes and needs; combine the amount of coffee and power nap the way that it allows me to bring the best possible result; manag-ing not to say things that are supposed to stay unsaid; make the house – home; look through the cloudy window while seeing just the mix of colours and light and enjoy it; make it on time; catch the inspiration; cook a super tasty experimental dinner; leave a camera at home one very beautiful and clear autumn evening while in the town that is always rainy and still capture the atmosphere and mood in yourself; learn to walk in high-heels; not to catch the cold, when everyone around is ill; accidental-ly hang the Christmas lights in the room of a friend and then just leave them there, because this is where they belong;…
By the way, a bit about photography. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the art is either a thing, or at least something one can repeat-edly see, touch, smell or hear. Well, as for me, I always forget my camera at home, especially

those days when the inspiration is just float-ing in the air. That’s why I don’t “do” art, only experience it. For example, in the evenings, on my way back home from work I see a street lit with yellow street lamp lights and the old abandoned houses on both sides. It’s been 4 years since I was dreaming to capture it in a photograph, but I never have means to do it. Would seem unfortunate, however I found my-self having something else – I have that street inside me. Every Tuesday on the way home I experience that street with the same yel-low street lamp lights. And even though I still dream of capturing it and having it as a mate-rial form, every time something makes me let it go and enjoy the beauty of the moment. Letting go is also an art…
