Holy week in Murcia

• Holy Week in Christianity is from the last week of Lent until the week before Easter.

•  In Spain, The Holy Week is more than a religious festival.

• Parades begin in April, on “Viernes de

Dolores” and end in Easter Sunday. • Nazarenes.

• The unusual date: candies, cakes and eggs are given to people who see the each procession.

Batalla de las flores

• In this parade, people who participate in it, give flowers and present to the assistants, and when it finishes, people can take flowers from the coaches.

Entierro de la sardina

It is a great parade of coaches that ends withthe burning of the sardine on Saturday following the Holy Week.

The week before the great paradethere are some small parades of preparatory acts,like the velatorio of the sardine

Bando de la huerta•It’s on the folowing Tuesday after Easter.

•People dress in typical costumes from Murcia. The huertanos and huertanas.

•Young people go to parks to have some fun.

•The parade: -Floats where typical food is handing out. -There are people dancing the jotas.
