This project includes a complete refurbishment to create adequate clinical areas, side rooms and storage spaces for effective delivery of Maternity services. With the planned refurbishment project the number of beds will be reduced from 18 to 15, allowing for increased space between each woman. The side rooms will be of a higher standard and all the wash facilities will be upgraded. There will be a new staff toilet and rest room, also the nurses' station on the ward will be much improved, along with the office being a better place for staff to work in patient confidentiality will be much improved. • Installation of sub-meters to control cost of Water, Heating and Electricity of the entire Ward

(unique feature at The Whittington Hospital)

• New energy efficient high performance double glazed windows

• New fire smoke detectors, new emergency lights and fire compartments

• New CCTV and magnet lock at the main door link to the Security Department

• New electrical and data system including new fuse board and a new containment

• Hot and cold water services with thermostatic blender and Kemper loop for cold water with

automatic flushing systems to comply with legionella assessment (unique feature at The

Whittington Hospital)

• IT infrastructure and Wi-Fi for Staff and patients

• Furniture for office area and reception desks

• New energy efficient lights in LED

• Refurbishment of side rooms and new cubicles room for mothers post-partum

• New flooring in vinyl anti slip

• New wireless nurse call system
