ED SHEERAN / THE A TEAM

‘The A Team’ is a song about being a drug addict, specifically in the class A range. This music video was filmed in London in areas such as Holloway, Angel Islington, Highbury and Camden's Primrose Hill. I will keep the black and white filtered effect in mind when creating my music video as I feel as if it creates a lot of effect to the audience.

The music video for ‘The A Team’ portrays the life of a prostitute who became involved and influenced by drugs at the age of 18,hence ‘been this way since 18’ the video leads up to the death of this young lady who goes by the name of Laura.

This piece was based on small concert that Sheeran did for homeless drug addicts based in some kind of recovery of rehab, to make this easier I have looked into the meaning of ‘The A Team’ and I came across a report where Sheeran said this about his song ‘The A-Team’ : ‘The A Team' came from an experience I had when I did a gig at a homeless shelter," says Sheeran of the song. "I was 18 at the time and kind of quite naive. So, I was a bit taken back by some of the stories that I heard. I got home that night and I just wrote a lot of the lyrics. I wanted to write it so it sounded kind of upbeat, so you wouldn't really know what it's about, because it's quite a dark subject. "A drug like crack cocaine is called a 'class A' drug. That's in the same category as heroin. Instead of making it clear and just saying what the problem was, I'd say, 'She's in the 'class A' team'. It was kind of my way of covering up (a person's addiction), I guess, making it a bit more subtle."

HALSEY / HURRICANE‘Hurracine’ is a song about falling in love as a teenager where you love someone's faults through the lifestyle of drugs and drink. The chorus ‘'I'm a wanderess. I'm a one night stand. Don't belong to no city. Don't belong to no man.' This is Haley shows that she is a free woman, she can do a she wants and the tables changed, how she was trapped in a relationship with a guy who was into taking LSD.

‘I went down to a place in Brooklyn where you tripped on LSD’. This relationship I very tit-for-tat. In the music video we see Halsey kiss someone other than her boyfriend in a game of spin the bottle he then went off and slept with her friend. This scene in portrayed through an over the shoulder shot and a close up shot and I feel as if this scene is one of the most vital scenes in the music video as it not only show where the relationship ended up but it one of the final scenes and has a key event within it.

PARAMORE / THAT’S WHAT YOU GET‘That’s what you get’ is a song by Paramore, this song is about when you give your all in a relationship, you fall in love but you know that the person you're with isn't treating you right. In the music video the female character didn't know what to do because she still loved the male who she had been seeing. This song is mostly about the pain of knowing that your relationship isn't what it should be. And how you need to let go and move on but the relationship you thought you have built with that person still brings you false hope. You hope for the best within the relationship over all of the worst.

Shots in the music video include close ups, establishing shots, opening shots, extreme close ups. With the usage of these shots the audience gain a clear understanding of what the song may be about and they can begin to make their own ideologies on the song, between the lyrics and visuals.
