Lucy Hall (soprano) Gavin Roberts (piano) Saturday 21 March 2015 MAIN HALL PROGRAMME A selection of songs by Handel, Vivaldi, Purcell, Schubert, Brahms, Strauss, Duparc, Debussy, Poulenc, Gounod, Bellini, Puccini, Loewe & Lerner, Sherwin, Gilbert & Sullivan and Gershwin. Lucy won the First Prize in the Oxford Lieder Young Artist Platform with pianist Gavin Roberts and they regularly enjoy recitals together as part of Oxford Lieder and the Countess of Munster Recital Schemes. She has been awarded the Song Prize in the Mozart Singing Competition 2011, the Southwell Choral Society Bursary, a Peggy Oldham Award, and an Ian Fleming Charitable Trust Award from the Musicians Benevolent Fund. PROGRAMME Bach Toccata & Fugue in D minor Ravel Pavane Pour Une Infante Defunte Grandjany Rhapsodie & Frère Jacques Smetana The Moldau Mathias Santa Fe Suite Albeniz Torre Bermeja, Granada, Prelude Piazzola Sin Rumbo, Libertango Salzedo Concert Fantasy On Lara’s “Granada” Described as “The Queen of Harps”, Catrin has delighted audiences with her performances in the UK and worldwide. The former Royal Harpist to H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, holding the appointment from 2000-2004, Catrin had the honour of reviving this ancient tradition last held in 1873.

Jubilee String Quartet Saturday 6 December 2014 MAIN HALL PROGRAMME Haydn String Quartet Op. 77 No. 1 Webern Langsamer Satz Beethoven String Quartet Op. 59 No.1 First prize winners of the ‘Val Tidone International Chamber Music Competition’ 2010 and the 'St Martin's Chamber Music Competition' 2013, and third prize winners of the ‘Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition’ 2013, the Jubilee Quartet was formed in 2006 at the Royal Academy of Music, London. They held a Leverhulme Chamber Music Fellowship at the Academy from 2012-13, and are current Richard Carne Junior Fellows at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

They study with Helen Krizos (piano) and Laura Jellicoe (flute). James & Amy appear by kind permission of the RNCM.

Ning Kam (violin) Katherine Jenkinson (cello) Saturday 28 February 2015 MAIN HALL PROGRAMME Handel/Halvorsen Passacaglia Traditional//O'Connor Limerock Summers Julie O (solo cello) Newton/Kam Amazing Grace (solo violin) Servais/Ghys Variations Brilliantes on 'God Save the King' Ravel Duo This violin and cello duo concentrate on performing both virtuosic and audience friendly alternative works including folk and blue grass. Ning and Katherine independently teach and perform worldwide as soloists and chamber musicians. Ning is director of the Belgium chamber orchestra and Katherine enjoys a busy schedule with the 'Aquinas Piano Trio'.

Martin Cousin (piano) Saturday 25 April 2015 MAIN HALL PROGRAMME Beethoven Sonata in G Op.31 no.1 Brahms Drei Intermezzi Op.117 Rachmaninov Etudes-Tableaux Op.39 Martin Cousin is now regarded as one of the most exceptional pianists of his generation, having been awarded 1st prize at the 2005 Ettore Pozzoli International Piano Competition (Seregno, Italy) and Gold Medal at the 2003 Royal Over-Seas League Music Competition (London). Martin’s second CD for SOMM, featuring Glazunov’s piano sonatas, was released in 2010 to great acclaim, with Gramophone stating that the new release is ‘in every way, an impressive disc.’ His latest disc of Rachmaninov’s Etudes-Tableaux will be released in May 2014.
