The Music Scholarship is available to students who will be in Years 4, 5 or 6 in 2022. Students who will be in Years 3, 4 or 5 in 2021 are eligible to apply. Please attach the following with the Scholarship application: Copy of latest school report * Copy of the results of the most recent National Assessment Program Literacy & Numeracy (NAPLAN) Test (previously known as Basic Skills Test) * Accompanying letter to support your child’s application that outlines your reasons for wishing to join St Andrew’s School community * Copies of AMEB Practical/Theory Exam Certificates undertaken (or other music examiner, eg ANZCA, Trinity London or ABRSM) Reference from current instrumental music teacher Applicable school references (if possible). * *Not relevant for current St Andrew’s School students. Examination Applicants are required to attend an examination to progress to the next stage of the selection process. Scholarship applicants are required to attend an examination which will take place at St Andrew’s School on the Upper Primary Campus which is located on the left hand side of 22 Smith Street Walkerville on Tuesday 9 February 2021. The Registrar will contact you by phone and email to confirm the time of your examination. Examination results will not be published. Please bring the following to the examination: Musical instrument/s Two contrasting pieces of music for main instrument and one piece for each additional instrument, including voice Accompanist if required $130 Registration Fee (payable on the day of the Music exam). The Scholarship selection process After a review of the information provided and the results of the examination, a shortlist of candidates will be invited for an interview with the Principal on Tuesday 9 February.

The Scholarship selection process

Candidates may be asked to undertake further relevant activities at this time. Candidates will be notified within six weeks of this date about the outcome of the scholarship application.

Awarding of the Scholarship

The School Board shall award the Scholarships offered in its absolute discretion.

Successful candidates may receive a remission of up to half of the base tuition fees each year to the conclusion of Year 6 at St Andrew’s School.

Only one form of discount applies. A student in receipt of a scholarship is not also eligible for any other discounts.

Music Scholarship holders are required to attend instrumental music lessons and ensemble rehearsals regularly, demonstrate an excellent attitude towards their studies in music, and set a high standard of performance as a soloist and in ensembles. Music Scholarship holders are required to participate, as required, in performances and other events held by the Music Department throughout the year.

For successful external candidates, a refundable Tuition Bond of $1700 will be required to proceed with application. A copy of the child’s birth certificate will be required, in accordance with established enrolment procedure, as proof of age.
