The font for the logo remains the same for each issue. This means the logo is easily identifiable and can be recognised by readers and the potential audience. Billboard's logo contains red, yellow, green and blue within the “b”, “o”, “a” and “d”. The colours are arguably more masculine such as red and blue however by including the use of yellow and green the cover suggests it is more gender neutral.

Additionally by including the chance to win something, for example the cover’s use of the “In it to win it” phrase in a golden yellow stands out well and demands the attention of the reader of the cover. Thus making the magazine more appealing and increasing the chances of it being purchased.

The date and issue number is used by loyal collectors of the magazine in order to distinguish when the prints were released. It also allows people who collect the magazine frequently to remain up to date with the latest music news and the newest artists who feature in Billboard.

Her style ties in extremely with the main sell line - Katy Perry – Queen of Pop. Her regal title fits well with the wreath of the flowers on her head. This grabs people’s attention and would want to read the article if they support her or to question the statement if they aren’t familiar with her music. By calling her the “Queen of Pop” the audience is intrigued as this is a very controversial statement. Therefore people are more likely to pick up the magazine.

This links to the main sell line. As she is a prominent figure in the music industry and a famous celebrity the main sell line draws people in as it makes them question if it about her music or her personal life. People’s want to know about her personal life attracts readers who will buy the magazine.
