Looking at Fractions in Pie Charts
Before we look at the different types of notes and rhythms, we take a quick look at some fractions
![Page 3: Music rhythms presentation](https://reader034.vdocuments.net/reader034/viewer/2022042511/55c444cbbb61eb2e518b480b/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
The whole pie represents the number 1
![Page 4: Music rhythms presentation](https://reader034.vdocuments.net/reader034/viewer/2022042511/55c444cbbb61eb2e518b480b/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
If we cut the pie down the middle (and give the rest away) we have half the pie left. This is the fraction
1/2
![Page 5: Music rhythms presentation](https://reader034.vdocuments.net/reader034/viewer/2022042511/55c444cbbb61eb2e518b480b/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Now if we cut (divide) the rest of the pie into half again, what's left is the
fraction one quarter (1/4)

Cut the quarter piece in half again, and you are left with one eighth
(1/8)
