My chosen Sub-Genre

The genre of music I have chosen is

• Indie pop. This will be the genre that I base my whole magazine around, from research all the way up to constructing and producing and constructing a front cover, contents page and double page spread.

• Indie pop could be described as alternative rock, but with a slightly mellow twist to it, that rose to popularity towards the end of the 20th century from iconic bands such as The Smiths.• Indie pop has been taken on board by a large number of new bands

aspiring to be as big as their predecessors. This has lead the genre of music to be very popular with both young audiences and older ones.

Why Indie Pop?

• I have chosen the sub-genre of my magazine to be indie pop. The reason I have chosen this sub-genre is because it is a style I enjoy myself, but also because of how frequent it came up in my focus groups and questionnaire.
