Therearethreefunctionsavailablewithintheapplication:

Selectthefirsticontopositionanembroiderydesign.

SelectthesecondicontocreateanembroiderypatterninMyDesignCenterandthenplacethedesigninaspecificlocationwithinthehoop.

SelectthethirdicontoselectanimagestoredonyoursmartphonetocreateanembroiderypatterninMyDesignCenter.

ThefirsttwooptionsintheapplicationusethecodifiedembroideryframesincludedwithyourBrothermachine.Thesetwofunctionsallowyoutoselectaneasymodeforplacementoranadvancedmodeformorepreciseplacement.

Whenyouselecttheadvancedmode,youwilluseanembroiderypositioningstickertocalibratetheframe.Youwillthenbeabletomanuallypositionthedesignorautomaticallyalignthedesignwiththepositioningsticker.

Inordertoconnectyourmachinetoawirelessnetwork,thesecurityinformation(SSIDandnetworkkey)foryourhomenetworkwillberequired.Thenetworkkeymayalsobecalledapassword,securitykeyorencryptionkey.First,findyoursecurityinformationandnoteit.

1. PressWireless LAN keyatthetopofthescreen.

2. SetWireless LAN EnabletoON.

3. PressWireless LAN Setup Wizard.

4. Selectthedesired network below Select SSID.

5. SpecifysettingsforSSIDandPassword,andthenpressOK.Thiscompletestheconnection.

Installing the Application

Connecting the Application to Your Brother Machine

Youwillneedtocheckyoursmartphone’sWLANsettingstoensurethatitisconnectedtothesamenetworkasyourBrothermachine.Beforeopeningtheapplicationonyoursmartphone,besuretoturnonyourBrothermachineandenablethewirelessLAN.EachtimeyouopentheMyDesignSnapapplication,theapplicationwillsearchforthenpairwithyourBrothermachine.

1. AfterMyDesignSnapisinstalledonthesmartphone,tapitsicontostartit.

2. TaptheSearchkeytosearchforthemachinethatisconnectedtothesamewirelessLAN.

3. TapSelectkey.

4. SelectyourmachineintheSelectDevicescreen.Forthisexample,thenameappearsas“SewingMachine”,butthiscanbechangedfromyourmachine.

5. TapFinishkey.

TousetheMyDesignSnapapptopositionadesign,youwillfirstneedtohoop the fabric(withstabilizer)inoneofthecodifiedhoopsandset an embroidery design.

TheexampleshowninthissectionusestheEasy modeintheappanddesign 007 from embroidery category 1/subcategory 15.

Subcategory Design

Aftertheselectedpatternappearsonthemachine’sscreen,pressSetkeyinthelower-rightcornerofthescreen.

Onyoursmartphone,opentheapp andselectthefirsticon .

Aftertheapplicationpairswithyourmachine,leavethemodesettoEasy.

1. Whentheembroideryframecapturescreenappears,align the frameonthescreenwiththeactualembroideryframe.Theblackmarksatthetopandbottomoftheframemustalignwiththeblackcirclesintheapp.

2. Positionthesmartphonesothatthebluecirclesinthebarsontherightandbottomofthescreenarewithintheadjustmentareas.Whenthecountdownbegins,thephotohasbeensuccessfullytaken.

3. Yoursmartphonewillpromptyoutosendtheimagetoyourmachine.Youwillreceiveconfirmationwhenthedesignhasbeensent.

4. Aftertheimageisdeliveredtoyourmachine,youwillseeapromptonthemachine’sscreentoupdate.Attach the frame withfabriconembroiderycariedge,thenselect OKtoupdate.Theembroideryarmwillmove.

5. Onthemachine’sLCDscreen,theembroidery patternthatyousetappearsinthefabricthatwasphotographed.Press Edit keyinthisscreentomove,rotate,and/orresizetheembroiderypattern.

6. Embroiderthedesigntocompletetheprocess.

Positioning a Design Using the Advanced Mode

TousetheMyDesignSnapapptopositionadesign,youwillfirstneedtohoop the fabric(withstabilizer)inoneofthecodifiedhoopsandset an embroidery design.

TheexampleshowninthissectionusestheAdvanced modeintheappanddesign 007 from embroidery category 1/subcategory 15.

Subcategory Design

Aftertheselectedpatternappearsonthemachine’sscreen,press Set keyinthelower-rightcornerofthescreen.

Onyoursmartphone,opentheapp andselectthefirsticon .

Aftertheapplicationpairswithyourmachine,change the mode to Advanced.

1. Whenyouselecttheadvancedmode,youwillbepromptedtoattach an embroidery positioning stickerwhereyouwantthedesigntostitch.

2. Attachthestickersothatthecenterdotinthelowercirclealignswithoneofninereferencepointsforplacement:center,upperleft,uppercenter,upperright,leftcenter,rightcenter,lowerleft,lowercenter,andlowerright.

3. Whentheembroideryframecapturescreenappears,align the frame on the screen with the actual embroidery frame.Theblackmarksatthetopandbottomoftheframemustalignwiththeblackcirclesintheapp.


5. Yoursmartphonewillpromptyoutosendtheimagetoyourmachine.Youwillreceiveconfirmationwhenthedesignhasbeensent.

6. Onthemachine’sLCDscreen,theembroidery patternthatyousetappearsinthefabricthatwasphotographed.Theembroidery positioning stickerisalsovisibleontheLCDscreen.

7. ThecarriagewillbepositionedsothatthebeamoftheW+embroideryfootisveryclosetothecenterofthebottomcircleofthepositioningsticker.Usethearrowkeys(showntotheleft)toalign the LED pointerwiththecenterofbottomcircleoftheembroidery positioning sticker,andthenpress OK key.Bycalibratingthepositioninthisway,theembroiderypatterncanbepreciselypositioned.

8. Select the Edit keytodisplaytheeditingwindow.Select the Size key,adjustthedesigntothedesiredsize,andthenpress OKkey.

9. Select the Embroidery keyinthelowerrightcornerofthescreen.

10. Select the Layout keyandthenthepositioning sticker key.

11. Topositionthedesignsothatthedesign’s centermatchestheembroiderypositioningsticker,select the Center key,andthenpressOK key.Theembroiderypatternwillsnaptothepositionandangleoftheembroiderypositioningsticker.Youcanusethissameprocessforanyoftheninereferencepoints.

12. Checkthedesignpositiononthefabricbackground.Ifnecessary,usethemoveandrotatetoolstoperfectthedesign’sposition.

WiththeMyDesignSnapapp,animagephotographedwithasmartphonecanbeusedasabackgroundinMyDesignCenter.Detailscanbeaddedtothebackground,andthedrawingcanbeconvertedtoembroiderydata.Thecombinationofthefabricpatternandhand-drawnembroideryfurtherbroadensyourrangeofexpression.

Onepracticalapplicationforthisfunctionisaddingdesigndetailstoafabric.

TocreateembroiderydatainMyDesignCentertobestitchedinaspecificlocation,youwillfirstneedtohoop the fabric(withstabilizer)inoneofthecodifiedhoopsandopenMyDesignCenteronthemachine’sHomescreen.

Onyoursmartphone,opentheapp andselectthesecondicon .

Aftertheapplicationpairswithyourmachine,setthemodetoEasyorAdvanced,dependingontheplacementaccuracyneeded.TheexamplebelowusestheAdvancedmodeforprecisepositioning.

1. Whenyouselecttheadvancedmode,youwillbepromptedtoattach an embroidery positioning sticker.Thestickerwillbeusedforcalibrationonly,soitsexactpositionand/orangleisnotimportant.

2. Whentheembroideryframecapturescreenappears,align the frame on the screen with the actual embroidery frame.Theblackmarksatthetopandbottomoftheframemustalignwiththeblackcirclesintheapp.


4. Yoursmartphonewillpromptyoutosend the imagetoyourmachine.Youwillreceiveconfirmationwhenthedesignhasbeensent.

5. Attach the embroidery frametothemachine.

6. Press Load keyatthetopofthepatterndrawingscreenofMyDesignCenter.

7. Onthemachine’sLCDscreen,Pressthewireless networkconnectionkeytoretrievetheimage.

8. Select the imagetransferredfromthesmartphone,andthenpressSetkey.

ThecarriagewillbepositionedsothatthebeamoftheW+embroideryfootisveryclosetothecenterofthebottomcircleofthepositioningsticker.Usethearrowkeys(showntotheleft)toalign the LED pointerwiththecenterofbottomcircleoftheembroidery positioning sticker,andthenpress OK key.Bycalibratingthepositioninthisway,theembroiderypatterntobecreatedcanbepreciselypositioned.

10. Thefabricthatwasphotographedandtheembroidery positioning stickerwillbedisplayedonthemachine’sLCDscreen.

11. DisplaythescreenenlargedwithZoomkeyintheupper-leftcornerofthescreen.

12. Movetheredframeinthepatternpreviewareauntiltheareawhereyouwanttodrawtheembroideryappearsinthepatterndrawingarea.

13. Withthetouchpen(stylus),draw the embroidery linesontopofthebackgroundappearinginthepatterndrawingarea.

14. Press Next keytocontinuetothestitchsettingscreen.

15. Onthisscreen,youcanselect the different regions and lineswithinthedesignandmakechangetothestitchsettings.Refertoyourmachine’sOperationManualformoreinformationaboutMyDesignCentersfeatureandfunctions.

16. Afterassigningstitchtypesandproperties,select Preview.Setthedesignandconverttoembroiderydata.

•Mustbedrawnclearlyusinglineswithapproximately1mmthickness

•Shouldbedrawninastrongcontrast

Ifthelinesaretooshortorgatheredtoodensely,theywillnotbeloadedcorrectly.

Ifyoucannotconvertthelinedrawingasexpected,youcanloadtheimageasabackgroundandusethestylustotracetheelementsofthedrawing.

Linedrawingsareconvertedwithoutrecognizingthethicknessoflines.Ifyouwanttochangethethicknessoflines,specifyinthesettingsscreen.

Linedrawingsareconvertedasblacklines.Youcanchangethecolor.
