I visited an orphanage called Oasis haven of love foundation on the 5th of October (Wednesday). This is a non-profit organisation in South Africa that its main goal is to place and care for abandoned and HIV positive children within families. It was such a great experience we had and what we did was because the orphanage was moving into a bigger house so they just needed help with moving some few boxes and things into their new house, we also helped with cleaning up and packaging thing into the new house then after completing moving all the boxes we than got a tour in the house and got to meet as well as associate with the child’s in getting to know them as well as giving them advice to the teenagers who are planning to go to universities in to what they should expect when it comes to universities. What it meant to me on a personal level was that it gave me a heart of willingness and wanting to help the child’s indeed, trying to make a difference in someone’s life. The oasis haven orphanage also has a brother and sister session were an individual can commit to be the “brother and sister” of an orphan and take him or her out for movies, lunch or help with school work. Therefore, this has personally make me have the desire to also join the sessions and make a little difference in one child’s life so they may also feel loved, cared for and wanted. The community engagement has been a only yet again the best experiences ever in my life in terms of me personally appreciating the little that I have to be able to help other with also the little I have so therefore not only will I just take the little experience I had at the oasis orphanage but I will most definitely find an orphanage that is nearby and check were I can assist and maybe I could also do this as an extra activity rather than sitting at home.My favourite part of this engagement that I will never forget was when we had the opportunity to spend a little time with the girls, the way they picture big about where they see themselves after high school and what they would want to study so it actually shown me that do not be afraid to dream big even though your situation background is currently not the way you wanted. Therefore I am not

afraid of dreaming big even though at times it may seem as if it will never happen. I may say that in the eight hours I have spent helping out it has personally made me grow in a way because I have actually realised that ever since I went to the oasis orphanage my mentality has change in the way I see things because personally I never had the ability, willingness as well as the strength of wanting and desiring to help out abounded child’s and I guess the only reason I have been this way it is because I have never made the means and time to actually sacrifices the time I had and therefore this has actually had a huge impact in my life so I doubt that the desire that I have currently will ever vanish but continue touch my heart.
