GANTENBEIN VINEYARD FAÇADEGramazio & Kohler, 2006

The Gramazio & Kohler robotic arm illustrate the precision reach between digital model and construction building. Their work with this façade shows the possibility for architects to become a kind of “master-builder”.

It is also interesting how they use a single element (the brick) to create a beautiful inside and outside tectonic.

The atmosphere created inside the builder is maybe a little too much distracting for the driver but can be inspiring for a future installation tectonic.

POSITIF + NEGATIF.Julien Beauchamp. 2010

The main goal of this project was to explore the possibility of the software Google SketchUp 7.0.

Based on a drawing, the former wall was composed of the with the white (positif) and the red parts (negatif). The white elements were transformed into volumes (spheres and cylinders). The positive components were gradually detached.

Many alternative version were maded using a kind of ‘‘human randomness’’. This version was selected for the final presentation because of its general shape and aesthetic.

The design is based on an evolu-tionary development mechanism

to optimized the morphology of the body and its position in space.

It is a good example to illustrate the alternative versions that a com-

puter can generate based on given values and randomize points.

Then the designer can choose a proposition, change the algorithms

and start over.

MIGRATINGS FORMATIONSContemporary Architecture Pratice, 2008

The variations of the shapes, smoothness and the opening are multiplied by two because they are different from both side of the wall.

The gradient of difference between each individual cell can be stretch to the scale of the highway (with the high speed of the cars) and still be interesting. This kind of skin development is also nice for its inside and outside uniqueness.

It would create two lecture to the structure / installation : one for the cars and the other for the pedestrians.
